gel there was a distinct possibility of him doing a Reds and overseas footy thing happening but now I think any chance of that happening has gone by the course of action adopted by QC (Quade Cooper).

That would have been the best way to rub it in to the ARU whilst building a very loyal fan base in Queensland (and probably a few south and west of QLD borders as well.

Now, methinks history will record him as a petulant and somewhat immature brat. He had more talent than that. Similarly Campo had talent and not too much upstairs, but he managed to reach his full potential by surrounding himself with some very clever people to manage Brand Campo. That is one case study that QC (Quade Cooper) and his advisors missed out reading about.

No surprise given the lack of offer.

I'd think that is his only chance of playing rugby for the next 6 months is with the Reds unless someone in France or Japan quickly throws together a contract. But if he is still injured a season of super rugby is probably needed to get his price back to 'acceptable' levels. Here's hoping he can go round once more.

I understand people don't like the guy but am surprised some are celebrating his loss. I watched him do many things on a rugby field no other player in this country has the ability to do. His loss will be a blow to Reds AND the wobblies.

Such as?

How about learning to control a game first before behaving and wanting to be treated like a rockstar.

This is a bad outcome for Australian Rugby, not something to really be celebrated. Always sad to see a player never reach their full potential.

It will certainly cost the reds a lot of money in lost revenue. Wonder what genia thinks about the situation.

No4918, what is an acceptable level of remuneration for QC (Quade Cooper) at international level?

Reading in the papers over the weekend, the boys over in Europe at the moment will come away from that tour with a fair amound of money in the swag.

Remember he told the public that it wasn't about the money on Fox Sports.

What is it about for him then? A bronze statue outside at Lang Park? King Wally had to wait a fair while before he earned that recognition.

Facilities that facilitate a national team - That's right I forgot.

The facilities facilitating the Reds as viewed on Code Red seem adequate enough.

And isn't calling someone an idiot considered playing the man around here?

Pretty sure qwerty is the same one that called QC (Quade Cooper) a c_u_n_t during the Argentina game without sanction. He seems to hate anything to do with the reds. Jealousy maybe?

Can we wait until we get the ton up on the thread before we resort to the good old interstate name calling trolling?

Valid that he is a player with exceptional talent.

Aside from that he is a grade a flog and blight on the game with his conduct and comments of late.

We'll get more publicity from this than our win over England. So wrong.

Here we go, Reds fans turning everything into a state thing. Nothing to do with the Reds, I like a lot of their players, just not Quade like most people.

I appreciate your thoughts - particularly the campo conundrum part, but I may have worded my question incorrectly (or not realised that you answered it already, sorry)...

Under the standard super rugby franchise contract thingy, is it allowable to play here and then flit off to play over there without the ARU having any say in the matter? Or is are the franchise contracts linked to the ARU, in which case that is it

In my eyes the ARU have handled this just as poorly and just as petulantly as Cooper. On one side we have professional businessmen and negotiators which you would assume some intelligence, on the other side we have a young rugby player of questionable intelligence.

Who would you expect to handle the situation better and more evenly? Who should therefore deserve more criticism?

As far as I can tell, the ARU have asked themselves whether quade is in the best 32 players in the country. Most would answer that as no given the developments of the last 12 months. We have had more than 30 players travel to Europe just for this spring tour so there isn't much room for players who haven't played for aus much this year, plus have had two major injuries, especially given the depth emerging at 10.

If The question is whether quade is in the best 54 players then many more, including me, would answer yes.

I think quade and his management stuffed up big time by going for a 1 year deal. I hope he is not lost to Aus rugby permanently, and a stint playing os may even do him the world of good.

Why did you quote my post? Where is the name calling in that. Pretty sure I wasn't the one dropping the c bomb in reference to QC (Quade Cooper) or idiot in reference to Carmeichal.

@ gel, There are international transfer protocols in place which must be followed for teams and players travelling across international rugby "borders".

Even school teams and club age grade teams going to and from NZ or FIJI etc need to follow these. They are typically a rubber stamping exercise and I can not recell too many occasions (not that I am well versed in the activity) where the NZ RU or ARu have not authorised a visiting team "permission" to visit.

Pretty sure that tit is the same for individuals, particularly those individuals who work within the system and not those who are out to buck the system.

As said before the best option for QC (Quade Cooper) would have been to suck it up, work hard and get fit and show the bastards how good he really is. It is only then that potential bureaucratic barriers to topping up the superannuation fund are removed or flexibly interpreted.

Case in point $BW. He "walked" out on the NZRT chasing big $ on offer in Japan but has left the door open to return if they still want him for RWC 15 (unfortunately for us:().

The contract system is fucking woeful. Give clubs the cash and make match payments the only option for International duty. Put everyone on an even field.

I could not agree with this more! It'll also give them the incentive to play well & hold their position in the squad.

I've said previously that i think the minimum ARU contract would not be unreasonable. He is definitely in the top 32 players in the country. The incentive offer can only only be taken as 'we don't think you're getting selected anytime soon and don't want to pay you.' As much as people say that he could go away and work on his game to force his way back, do they really think he isn't going out there to do his best every game already.

As for your other questions. Who the hell knows what he wants. Suspect he has little idea himself. I'll be sorry to see him go but it appears he still hasn't learnt anything from the last few months. Unfortunately we'll never know how good he could have been and he should take a lot of the blame for that himself.
