TGS are going to struggle with the keen outside backs in the comp this year. Notable mentions - Tom "The Bomb" Brant.

-T42
Yeah mate,
Absolute legend on the field Tommy Brant, however, last time I checked he played at BGS?
Cheers T42 good to see you active on the forum after a long while.
Not to mention, are we forgetting Barry "Twinkle toes" Smith?

I was thinking the same thing Terrance Brunkhaust, however I believe your approach towards Themaulmarauder was quite inappropriate as he is just giving his predicted line-up for BBC and he is entitled to his opinion. Take Care
Sorry Tom, some things get to an old fella like me too much. Thanks for the correction, mate.

@Terrance brunkhaust , Hi Terrence, The decisions between Nillson and Tattam for me was definitely a close one, however I just think BBC will be looking for a pinpoint lineout and scrummage come game day, for me I see BBC using his as their no. 1 substitute due to his absolute ability to just play footy, although he is known play out wide, I just believe BBC will be looking for set piece excellence,

Good evening fellow forumists,

Just looking at your pick from BGS (Enasio) while I find him to be a fantastic player, I think that what BGS really lacks is power and size in the front row. So while Enasio may be one of the most talented, i believe that newcomer to BGS, Matteo Bocolacci will solve Grammar's weakness in the prop department. The boys commonly refer to Bocolacci as the "Maccas Mol*ster" which is a testament to his sheer size. I think this name serves as a compliment to props such as Bocolacci who centre their game around scrum time and inflicting damage with and without the ball. @Themaulmarauder just re-emphasising I do not disagree with your pick just believe that the "Maccas Mol*ster" will be most influential on the team.

See mate, this forum is a place to put genuine thoughts and queeries. I would just like to thank you for this insight you have given us into BGS rugby. Although the name may be interpreted as offensive by some, I bet he fits those shoes as well as he fits his XXXL jersey. I'm keen to see his performance in the upcoming season.

Wilson-Tyres is a massive pick up for the TGS squad! Definitely makes them a dark horse IMO

Few contacts at Keebra have advised Poese is heading there for 2025. Massive loss if this is true.

On a different topic, anyone else heard about Jeremy "Sole" Boo and his likelihood of taking the step up from 16A's in 2024 to the First XV in 2025. While Boo had a decorated season in 2024 his dominant performances were drowned out by the defeated season which the BGS 16's faced. With the departure of Jackson O'Brien from the front row this opens up possibility for Boo to take the next step. Someone keep tabs on this kid in 2025.

What everyone's thoughts on possible GPS vs AAGPS fixtures. Would be nice to see a possible winner of GPS vs AAGPS match palyed at neutral venue. Thoughts?

i rate that idea a lot, it would be a great atmosphere and would make the competition mean a little more. I also would love for the GPS Rugby to start being streamed on Stan Sports, they do all the u16 comps I think it would do a lot for the competition and grow it larger.

I’d put it out there add, Wilson Tyres to the TGS team would be exactly what they need to compete in the upcoming season. However losing an 8 like Tom Bailey leaves a massive hole in the team. Let’s hope young Craig can still do damage. Myles Rosemond will be the player to bank on next year, with the likes of Rhymen, Myles, Adam, Gavin, Rupeni, Keegan and Kruger, the young TGS Team from 2024 is looking ready to bounce back for 2025, especially with the 150th upcoming.

Yeah? Whats the go with Toowoomba's 150th year 'dream team.' Rumours are most of them are scholarship players bought with the coin from their Old Boys' Association.

I've seen things like this happen before, so I dont see TGS taking out the premeirship as you can put the best team together possible, but they'll tend to fall short against the dominators of the competition - Nudgee, TSS etc. Personally, I think this isn't the best strategy as it produces heavy procrastination on TGS' part. Almost thinking they've sealed the deal already.

But before you all think I'm talking crap, I must say, TGS' rugby program has improved signifcantly over the past few years. Prior to COVID-19 TGS was walked over almsot every game and season, by even some of the lower schools. But needless to say I still think they will put up a good fight, especially with a lot of big games on their own territory in 2025. Would also like to see Double-Take Sports produce a livestream similar to the one in 2023 for the NC vs TGS game. Brilliant Stuff.

Even perhaps more trial matches down south? Wouldn't mind seeing more schools head down the Nudgee College pathway by playing powerhouse teams such as Barker as an annual trial fixture. Rumours are too they are looking at playing a match against Joeys for next pre-season, that would be agreat watch. Two schools steeped in rugby history and similiar foundations. Not to mention that BBC are also looking to play some schools down there.

The footy there really is spectacular - far better skill level than up here in the sunshine state, on that note what is the cause of this you reckon?

With all this said, here is my top 4:

1st NC: Im going to be honest, I don't think any school is going over the posts first other than Nudgee. Sean Graham is running a spectacular program and it's only getting better. The quality of footy from the Flats up to Ross is spectacular and is a great representation of the amount of school pride some of these boys have. Their First XV is another story, with an intense selection process, they make no mistakes in picking the right man for the job. You just can not fault Nudgee in this golden era they've entered. 4 concurrent premierships if you count 2021 are very hard to beat in a competition as tough and intense as GPS. I'll look forward to someone proving me wrong, but I don't think that will happen sorry.

2nd BBC: After their 16A's beat Nudgee in 2023, they definitely made their mark as senior year premiership contenders. With countless dollars spent, it would disappointing to see them not come close. But, the skill of some of these boys is definitely up to par. However, they can have all the muscle and coaching expertise in the world - but I still don't see them winning against Nudgee in 2025 on Miskin. Even with a few returning players, BBC lacks discipline. Sure, they have all the motivation in the world to win as a result of only even winning a handful of GPS Premierships, but discipline should always be put before motivation. That is something I believe the middle schools uphold such as GT and ACGS.

3rd TSS: With a solid performance in 2023 & 2024, I still see TSS falling short. They lack that oomph that other schools possess, almost an intimidation method that schools such as BSHS have. They had a very strong 16A side this year, testing Nudgee's kicking skills with Bond Bradley kicking the game-winner. They got close, but it's sad to say that TSS is slowly leaving their winning streak error. With a decrease in rep players and signed players, TSS is losing interest. It's not all doom and gloom though, they definitely are not easy to beat with a very hard-hitting play style that will rattle so many younger teams in 2025.

4th ACGS: Can't really decide on this one. They have the muscle but they never seem to perform. They have a great spine combination with almost everyone playing high-representative footy. But, with all the shuffling and recent sacking of the First XV coach and rugby director, I believe they won't have a strong presence in 2025 like their predecessors in 2023 - who they seem to ahve modleled themselves off.

I can do a bottom 4 but what's the point? I see this upcoming season shaping up to be similar to 2023, with upsets and dark horses. But this is just my off-season predictions, purely my own opinion based on prior performances and countless watched games - as well as some insider information.
