Haven't slept a wink all week thinking about this issue. Let's have a good look at the entrails of this incident. Here's a sequence of events:

• Italy play NZ in Milan, with an Australian referee, Stuart Dickinson
• NZ lead by 14 late in the game when Italy get a number of scrums 5m from NZ's goal-line
• there are 8 scrum resets, some say NZ at fault, others say Italy
• Graham Henry (NZ coach) furious about the fact NZ are penalised for improper scrum practice, he considers Italy to be at fault
• NZ player, Tialata tweets Graham Henry (NZ coach) will meet with Paddy O'Brien (a NZer), the iRB referees' manager, when NZ arrive in London
• NZ coach meets with iRB referees' manager (a NZer) in front of a NZ journalist, Marc Hinton
• In an unprecedented action Paddy O'Brien (a NZer), the iRB referees' manager, publicly criticises the Australian referee's performance with Graham Henry (the NZ coach) in front of Marc Hinton, a NZ journalist, advising him Dickinson was wrong in his rulings over the final scrums and will be given some training to remedy those incorrect rulings
• NZ journalist reports meeting on NZ website, Stuff
• NZ rugby supporters go ballistic

I've looked at this incident back-to-front and upside-down (and even inside-out) for a common thread and buggered if I can find one. I must confess I'm at a complete loss as to what we should now do.

Wasted effort Lindo - over here its a fair-to-middling analysis. Over there its utterly wrong. Except if you quoted it like this:

the ... scrums aren't really an issue with Tialata
...
Scrum 1 - ... No penalty try because they didn't look like they were going to score.
Scrum 2 - ... That one was a bit of a mess ... the Italians aren't going anywhere.

I'd like to read any comments Nick Mallet may have to say on the situation. Paddy O'Brien is a twat and always has been even when he had the whistle.

He tries to make out that he's not biased by saying that Wayne Barnes was obstructed on the forward pass by the french but really he was gutted but knew there was nothing he could do to fix the fuck up.

Stuff wasn't where it was first reported. It was just where you first picked it up.

I am surprised at the lack of response on TSF to your post.. actually, no I'm not. All kiwi's that i know and chat rugby with agree that Paddy's made a knob end of himself, the Italy scrummed destroyed us and it's time to move on.

But please, by all means keep convincing yourself that this is an entire NZ run beat up and conspiracy. I do find it ironic how suddenly all Aussies are scrum experts though, given that your scrum has been going backwards for years and only started going forwards once you got a kiwi coach....

I find it ironic how any supporters think that their team's performances at the scrum somehow gives them any scrum knowledge, and that includes Kiwis. We had years of other countries' fans sternly lecturing us on front row play, when they've never been in a scrum in their lives. :lmao:
