Does anyone have any details as of yet which boys are in the U18 Tahs squad? I understand it will be the same process as last year with a squad that comes together in January and then some scheduled games in March against QLD

You can write in any names returning from the Aus 18s like Grover then the recent game between Aus 16s v NSW 17s would have given them a good opportunity to compare guys like Dene (Barker) who was with the NSW 17s 10 and Risati (Kings) who was the Aus 16s 10. From what I saw in the Super Rugby 16s Risati is a special talent but they may lean older....

I think a couple of lean years ahead for Grammar rugby, particularly with the current headmasters' total focus on academics and distinct dislike for rugby

What do the old boys think of that? I had heaps of Grammar friends I played rugby against back in the 1980s and they fielded pretty competitive teams.

Grammar's rugby is right. Sport as a complement to education, unlike the rest of the GPS.

That's why Sydney Grammar still has the most Wallaby Captains out of all Australian schools (7 for Grammar vs 3 for Joeys), more Olympic Rowing medallists than SHORE and much more.

SGS these days is a very different cohort to 20 years ago.. it's also as GPS schools go small - only 1200 boys at the Senior campus.

1200 academically selected boys. It would be embarrassing if they didn’t do well in the HSC. 1200 isn’t small, it larger than Joey and View

Sydney Grammar actually has the smallest year 12 cohort besides TAS. Year 12 SGS 2024 is only 188 students ... rest are easily 200+. Often 230+ for Kings, Newington, View.

Grammar's only partially academically selective. Prep schools use lots of behavioural interviews and interviews look at non-academic talents as others do

Anyone know if Newington plans to grow enrolment going co-ed, or will the number of boys shrink over time?

A current New dad told me boys enrolments for 2025 and beyond have shrunk since the announcement. I believe the goal was to maintain current levels for boys. He also said girls enrolments have been poor at this point.

Interestingly in the East I'm hearing the opposite problem with Cranbrook numbers for boys oversubscribed and they are giving preference to families with girls who are putting them on the lists.
