For those that continue to say our juniors don't play enough please note these games as well as the 7s program development games. The guys from 15-18 are playing 12 months a year now and getting to that 20+ games a season quite easily.

Can't keep blaming senior pro results on our kids. It's the professional side of the community that have dropped the ball. Hopefully (won't hold my breath) RA's 5 year plan can begin to create continuity of development through this level into our professional sides.

Wishing for a speedy recovery Joker, other guy sounds like a character.

On another note, has anyone seen majority of the U17 team picked in any other team? No familiar names for me except for doozy Weir, Gough, Daly and Baxter. It came up in a a conversation last night at the Palace Hotel but is this team really a team that can rival the Aus U16 team? Or is it just to give the U16 some confidence and experience, because it doesn’t seem like they’re picking the “NSW” team.

I think there are a number of boys that were unavailable for the 17s due to other commitments. Still talented boys there which is great but if I were a betting person, my money would be on the 16s

Well Glazer,

I myself was curious on not only how these under 17's were selected but also where the big names such as Grover, Hartman or even Bassingthwaighte are. Turns out some of those boys are over in Auckland for the global youth sevens and other boys have league commitments. Although I can assure you these under 17's will give them a run for their money. After doing research a lot of these boys have actually played NSW footy before in younger years meaning they have experience and are all around great footy players. Both Ben Sawyer and Harrison Dene played five-eight 3 years ago in the Under 15 Gen Blue side, and I haven't seen them at a high level of footy since that. And of course new comers such as Kobi Mendel and Tom O'hara are in the sqaud by no mistake.

Honestly I can see the game going either way but I hope people understand this under 17's side isn't just a bunch of random players they needed to fill in the missing big names.

Speed beats size. Tahs boys look very short of a run in hot conditions. 3 tries to one now.

Outside backs for the 16s are great, scrum needs work as two penalties given away so far in them and seeing knees on ground that aren't getting picked up.

For the Tahs boys, after a solid start they have definitely dropped away and are being carved up by the 16s backs. Tahs forwards are dominant but will need to see what the heat does in this second half. Sawyer for Tahs has been forced to make some great tackles

Glazer here,

Solid effort from the 16s team, ball playing ability and playmaking was excellent and is expected of such a team. But on the other hand, the NSW boys looked like they fell under a bit of pressure in the 2nd half.

Their outside defence and also lineouts could use some work but it’s their first time as a team playing together so there’s some sympathy. But the standouts were probably Aston Doozy Weir (Scots), Sawyer (Tahs), and obviously Harrison Dene who is exceptional around set pieces.

Their presences made the game 10x what it would’ve been without them and they made the game an interesting watch in the first half. Shoutout to Doozy and Dene for their consistent efforts as all round athletes competing in 2 tough sports and also to Charlie Ghattas who was robbed of the 2 jersey.

edit: Upon further review, another note is Brock Preioudoukhhkdoux who didn’t play his best game but put in all his effort! Shout out to the Drummoyne and Trinity legend.

obviously your judgement didn’t turn out to be right, and the 16s looked like they were cruising in the 2nd half, but in your defence a number of boys did stand out in the 17s team, but you’d like to think they should be putting in one collective performance instead of individual efforts. All fun and games though as it is only a trial.
