Lions Tour 2025

Scratch this. The old man didn’t read his emails correctly - we have tickets for the Brisbane test. Yahoo!

edit: would still probably take two tickets for Sydney though if they happen to pop up.
I didn't even get an email, just saw my credit card copped a walloping.

Gotta say, I'm not a fan of this ballot system. I put in an entry for 2 x Platnium and 2 X Gold as I just wanted 2 tickets.

Was successful in getting both and now need to try and offload $1000~ worth of tickets .....

One aspect I really liked when entering the ballot is it seemed almost impossible to find out what the ticket prices were at that point.

Ahh I found them so knew what I was getting in for, but a mate who also entered the ballot didn’t. It wasn’t obvious that’s for sure

It wasn’t obvious but Reds sent an email explaining the process.

if you won a ballot option and had applied for Platinum but there weren’t enough platinum tickets then you would have automatically then dropped to gold, and then silver and so forth.

There was no need to apply for both platinum and gold.

Ahhh I completely missed that, the whole process has left a bitter taste in my mouth with RA taking over the process. I could have sworn in the past our Reds membership gave us first crack at buying the same seats.

Did anyone else just try to buy Suncorp tickets for the Wallabies match on release? That was, in a word, shocking. Buttons can’t be clicked that fast.

Reds tickets procured for myself and Sword of Justness which was actually not too outrageous. Accor tickets much easier to procure than Suncorp so we will be in the nosebleeds there for the Wallabies match. Good opportunity to catch up with family and friends is how I have justified it to myself.

Suggests we may as well add another tier to Suncorp for the ‘lympics whilst we are at it.

I know there are HEAPS of PI players ready and willing but to get the Indigenous numbers up I wonder if Rugby could/would approach League? Very low priority thought as it is still an Aus Rugby endevour.

Can we get the likes of KB (Kurtley Beale) and Quade back out on the field for a swansong showing in Aus? Sekope Kepu, Lealiifano would be great to see in front of a home crowd.

Also good to see they're not planning on resting too many players from the Super games against the lions:
There are plans for the Wallabies to play a warm-up match against a Pacific Island Test nation prior to the Lions Test series, but Waugh said Australia will look to field strong-as-possible Super Rugby sides.

The article lists currently contracted players with indigenous heritage, and also suggests bringing in Longbottom from the sevens program:
Along with Dylan Pietsch, who became the 15th Indigenous Wallaby this year, the players who identify as having Indigenous heritage in Super Rugby include Andy Muirhead, Harrison Goddard, Triston Reilly, Connor Vest and Isaac Henry. Maurice Longbottom could be drafted in from the Australian sevens team, and he has proved a handy 15s player with Randwick.
There are also some top level club players like the Oates brothers who could come into contention here to round out a squad.

Capping league players for this is an absolute non-starter though. Can't see the NRL allowing it or it being a good move by RA. The outside backs (only place leaguies coming in for a one off game would work) are already pretty well covered. Does make it a bit more of a pity that Aubrey has gone to league.

Just as an aside in relation to that list, I have known Isaac and the Henry family well for a long time and I don't believe there is any indigenous heritage, so probably isn't up for consideration. I'd say the confusion is due to Isaac being one of the seven Indigenous Program ambassador for the Reds in '22, however (judging by the messaging on socials) it seems like he, Ryan Smith, and Kailani were non-Indigenous people in that role.

I was a bit surprised to see his name included.

Look, I could be wrong and I'm sure Payten has done his research and pulled a list from somewhere - and I feel terrible if I've made an uninformed comment - but I was also surprised and have known the family for over 25 years.
