Lions Tour 2025

The Ghost of Raelene

I love that hypothetical team. This can be a real fan enagagement event with a really high calibre game of footy. Bit of barbarian style with Valynce TeWahare who is the roughest of diamonds and get those League eyes with Joey Manu.

Part of me does think as we host the Lions tour maybe a couple more Aus starters... Inverse if in NZ

As this game is a real standalone like the old fixtures v Country I'd rather see the Wallaby squad members 24-32 sent back to start for the Super Rugby sides and make those fixtures as strong as possible. The Brumbies are a much better side if they have guys like Cale and Reimer raring to go.

For the tour i'd say there's a good chance of a number of non-critical Force and Reds players been released from Wallabies to play their Super Rugby Matches against the Lions since they're first up, but Tahs and Brumbies are edging a bit too close to the 1st Wallabiest test match so don't see too many of those players been released.

Interesting tidbit at the end of this article about Hooper maybe playing for the combined ANZAC side:

I hope they're not too restrictive about keeping Wallabies out of the tour games, particularly with them all being played beforehand, but I understand the need to protect those front line guys.

I do really love the idea that some of these players they pull in for the ANZAC game will also turn out for a super side though, might double as a bit of a recruitment opportunity to see if they're keen to return to the fold ahead of the home world cup.
George Smith is surely still running around somewhere?
