Mst do you live in the real world? Almost any experienced professional is hired based on their experience and professional references.

In this case they were vouched for by an ARU employee.

Yes, but the role she was hired for and the role she was performing were different.

And in an "ëlite"environment you seek the best. You rational is fine in private business that is immune to public scrutiny, but I think the proof is in the pudding - look where we are.

If the practise is fine then why is its being questioned and scrutinised? Simply put its not fine nor acceptable.

The facts that remained in the altered version that remains on the SMH are still odd and I don't know how you don't think it is.

As I've said previously the only possible explanations for it are intentional embellishment or incompetence.

The only issue with her LinkedIn profile was that whoever created it selected the wrong commission that Di worked for before the Reds.............

That was clarified by Pulver.

There was nothing else in that profile that was incorrect...............

Nothing.

The only thing that's silly, is that people are still talking about it.

I think you are detached from reality mst. Was Gillon McLachlan interviewed and hired by the AFL to be CEO? Not his role evolved to that by promotion over time.

Was David Gallop hired by the NRL to be CEO originally? Not he was a News Ltd lawyer and over time moved to that role.

Many people are hired for newly created roles. Patson was an existing employee moved into a newly created role.

Unfortunately forced to re read TWAS post and Burke' s article. Putting both in context Burke states that the seven match streak has been considerably emphasised in analysing team's performance. He then says that to put it in context that the seven wins were against lower ranked teams (which is actually a matter of fact).

Jeff Wilson (I think, not going to re read every article) goes further in offering an opinion about the general standard of French touring teams in June.

Burke made no comment on the relative strengths and why they might have been easy beats last year but tough this year etc. that would be a silly statement anyway. The facts remain we won seven in a row against lower ranked teams and we are playing them again. As I posted I agree with Burke that they are going to be tough games.

Even if we fall to the All Blacks winning the last five on tour in the UK will be a strong end to the season.

Are you really following this thread?

The question was who is responsible for the current structure and job descriptions (whether written or not).

I previously posted that any savings have been massively inefficient if they have contributed to the current management mishaps.

The current structure seems to be Link's creation. How much that was due to budget pressures from above and how much it's because that's the way he wanted it is hard to know.

Bluuring and/or combining roles can potentially cause many problems - particularly when the attributes and skills set required for roles are different.

For example, organising flights, buses, hotels, equipment, paying bills and keeping the back office running require particular attributes and skills. Dealing face to face with young men on a daily basis, having to exercise authority over them and having to discipline them requires completely different attributes and skills. Some people could do both, but I'd suggest that most can't.

It's an accident waiting to happen and when you have people in the team who have a record of poor behaviour and attitude towards authority, it's a ticking time bomb.

If you did something that you hadn't done for the previous 12 years why wouldn't it not be emphasised? They were lower ranked, yes. But over a 12 year period you play the same or very similar fixture 7 times (excluding World Cup years and Lions tours). Why did it take the 7th one to achieve it?

We're still talking about it because people are talking defamation, and I reckon there's a snowflakes chance in hell of that flying based on what happened.

Sure Pulver came out and gave an explanation, but coupled with the hasty and unnecessary deletion of the pages, it still looked and sounded odd.

Yeah, probably I am and thank goodness I am. I suppose my only bit of experience is dealing with public, legal and media scrutiny on a daily basis. So it obvious to me if you leave yourself open it will come out. It did. Argue way, but its there, on the front pages and the ATU has breached the golden rules - is it defensible or able to be justified. Nope!

It's not indefensible, and it is able to be justified. You're just using that as something to back your agenda of ARU mismanagement, where nothing shows neither mismanagement or untoward practice.

Even if she was poor in her role, that's not mismanagement. Plenty of well credentialed people are poor in their role. If they have been there past a probationary period you cannot just terminate them.

She had 3 years at the Reds prior to the Wallabies. The Wallabies is basically a part time role when it comes to dealing with players. The Reds is 365 days per year. She didn't seem to have any issues there.


It was 2 years at the Reds and it wasn't the same role. How can you not comprehend that being a backroom team business organiser is totally different to being a touring team manager. One is a general role, the other is a senior squad member.

There were problems from the minute she took on an increase role in the team. These problems were identified a year ago by senior squad members who had also worked successfully with her at the Reds.

The reason the players are falling in behind Beale when they should be cutting him loose is because they obviously don't think she's upto the job. Her leaving the tour early instead of Beale is evidence of this.

None of this excuses Beales actions. I think his contract should be torn up and beyond that if he has any sceric of respect for the Jersey he should apologise to the team and fans for his actions. Especially considering the way Australian Rugby has supported him since he was a teenager.

In the future the Wallabies team manager should be a person that A) Has demonstrated they can manage a private sector business, B) Understand the unique wallabies culture and professional sporting environment. Go and read Rod Mcqueens book and you'll see he was saying the same thing 10 years ago yet no one in Australian Rugby seems to fucking listen.

This was her first full tour. Not sure how the complaints from last EOYT are definitely relevant.

She was not a touring party member at the time.

This looked and sounded dodgy and it still does. And as they say, if looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, well it's probably a fucking duck.

The AFL commissioned an external search firm to find other CEO candidates, and 2 of these presented to the AFL and were interviewed.
Gallop was simply a News Ltd appointment to protect their interests in a time of ongoing bitterness between ARL V Super League factions.

At the risk of being critical without offering a solution.

How about John Eales comes on board as Team Manager. Understands the culture, has set up and run a successful consultancy firm, is a director of two listed companies.

I understand it's probably a step back for him professionally, but it would do a world of good for the game - even if he just acts in the role until the end of the world cup.

Really? Because I just did a check.

Tony McGahan is still noted as a coach of Munster.

Brendan Cannon was noted at being a Fox Sports commentator until December 2013 when there weren't games shown after November.

Nick Farr-jones makes no mention of his role with the NSWRU.

John Eales makes no note of his Fox Sports role.

Andrew Mehrtens makes no note of his role with the Waratahs and easts.

Adam Ashley-Cooper merely notes his role as "professional athlete" with the ARU and no mention of his time at the Brumbies or Waratahs. Same with Mortlock and his time at the Brumbies and Rebels.

Rod Kafer's notes Fox Sports location as Pyrmont when they note it as Artarmon. Apple maps tells me these are 10.7km apart.

Phil Waugh's says he graduated high school in 1997 and started a masters in 1998.

Most profiles contain inaccuracies.

So Gallop was simply appointed into an evolved role based on him having an existing role? Sounds pretty familiar to me.
