i agree cyclo. in fact the biggest issue from here appears to be keeping the players happy and focused in the national environment. the tahs players will be, one would think, by and large, effected more than other players in the wallabies. those guys are very important to oz rugby so it is important that we keep them in mind

Disappointed.

I've been trying to figure out what I think about this whole thing since the story broke, and that's the word I've settled on.

Disappointed that Beale has thrown away a brilliant career to send the kind of hateful, idiotic, mysognist, offensive, juvenile shit that anyone with two brain cells to rub together should know better than to send.

Disappointed that Hooper and other senior players don't seem to grasp the seriousness of what Beale has done.

Disappointed that a female staffer can't last a day without sexist shit being thrown at her.

Disappointed that there seems to be discontent and disorganisation in the Wallaby camp, whether it's friction between players and management, uncertainty over the roles of team officials, the coach skipping training to drive Patston to the airport, or just plain shitty communication (or some or none of the above, for all we really know).

Disappointed that some of the players and posters on this forum think it's more important to "back your mates," even when they've acted disgracefully, than to be a real friend and help them understand what they've done. Sticking up for your mates regardless of the shit they pull creates the culture that produces texts like Beale's.

The only thing I'm not disappointed about is that I don't give Fairfax any of my money to read their drivel.

I don't think we'll ever get the full, shameful story. I've heard plenty of rumours, both online and off. I don't know what's true or what's not, but none of it would surprise me. And that's pretty damn disappointing too.

there are only a few known facts, some pretty likely inferences and a shit load of speculation and fantasy.
facts
KB (Kurtley Beale) sent inappropriate text messages
Di Patston dealt with it at the time (rightly or wrongly according to about 100 posts above)
KB (Kurtley Beale) and Di had a public slanging match at 30K feet
Di Patston left the tour
the ARU instigated an integrity review which upon learning of the text messages escalated that into a code of conduct hearing
Di Patston has resigned
the Wallabies captain and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) have come out to say they hope KB (Kurtley Beale) can stay in Australian rugby, the former unequivocally saying Kurtley shouldn't be sacked

thats it

everything else is inferred, made up, speculated, journalistic spin, bullshit, parochialism, half truths, near truths and possibly even some more facts, but until the review is complete and the evidence is laid out all we can do is wait and watch. i don't think we, that is the rugby tragics watching this fiasco, will ever know the whole truth, cue X-files music

Great post Richo. In particular this bit.

No, it isn't, as I even posted myself.
But the notions put forward a page or so back blaming the Tahs players as a whole group for instigating this by bitching about Patston previously, or suggesting dumping them all would not be a problem (because our depth is so good) are plain idiotic, and seem to me to be aimed squarely at inciting a shitfest.

Force of habit mate ;)

Ok, I don't know who said or did what, don't really care. Seems to be a bit of childishness going on, but thats about only thing I have picked up out of whole thing except for a couple of points!
1 It appears the senior playing group are not in harmony with team management or ARU about what should or did happen! Problem
2 Everybody is waiting for hearing etc etc to see what happens, I say bullshit it should of been sorted straight away (did Hansen wait for hearing to tell Cruden he was off tour for being late to gathering place or whatever before they went on tour? Also note senior playing group either agreed thats what should happen or shut the fuck up!!)!! Adds weight to Mitchells assertion that Aussie players are not prepared to just play and want to have too much say in running game! So another problem.
So seems a big problem that is being dragged on too long and hurting the game in this country, and by geez the game doesn't need to make it harder for itself than it already is!

Frankly I'm sick of reading senior wallaby with a quote from a waratah player after it.

I think what I'm going to do tonight is put on the documentary "The Rise and Rise of Australian Rugby" and watch Mark Loane and Tony Shaw interviewed. Two of our greatest ever players and leaders and blokes for whom it meant everything to play in that gold jumper (by all accounts they are both fine men too). Maybe they could be persuaded to address the playing group before Saturday and remind them of what that jersey represents, not that they should need any reminding.

Most of all, I'd just love to hear Dr Loane repeat his famous remark: "Mediocrity shits me"

Dan they have been governed in their actions after the massive pushback from the Dublin incident.

Yep I forgot that Train, perhaps the other problem that should be pointed at is the Players union or whatever they are!! Surely they realise for their own members to make a good living they have to support ARU in their endeavour to bring some sort of discipline to the playing group, so as to get results etc, to help earn money to pay the players!!!

Much the Hooper hate comes from a contingent of Reds supporters who will never forgive him for being selected ahead of Liam Gill and the other part of the Hooper hate comes from those Brumbies supporters who consider that he is a temporary occupant of 2 positions which are by divine right the property of David Pocock.

The same band of Reds supporters (a minority) who see a combined Waratah/ARU plot in anything which displeases them have been trying to get the Waratah thing going for 50 pages now.

You left out the Force fans who want Hodgson to start due to his 2014 pilfering stats...........

And for the Rebels fans...........

Ah...................

Daz, Mitch Inman, something something..............

The biggest problem appears to be the 'double jeopardy' scenario.

An incredibly dump and stupid thing, but was the matter dealt with previously to managements satisfaction or not?
It appears to have been dealt with to the satisfaction of Beale and some of the players, who obviously happy if it disappeared without any sanction for Beale. But how do you have double jeopardy without the first hearing and any consequences? And without management knowing about it?

I've just read the article in the Courier Mail -- fuck me dead. Please tell me the players aren't really going to demand that KB (Kurtley Beale) stays in the squad. If they get their way and he does, then I'm done supporting the Wallabies for a long time to come, because if that's the ethos of our representative team I want no part of it.

Can we get a petition going to this affect and send to the ARU.

I reckon we'd easily get 100k signatures.
