My oath we could, I would certainly not put good money on our chances.

Only way to get around that is to have the likes of JOC (James O'Connor), Genia etc to play for the Aussies for the whole of the 14/15 series to try to get the top four spot!

Two or three of the current squad look pretty good to me, Holland, Cusack, and of course Shannon Walker. Apart from a playmaker, the most important factor in Sevens now seems to be having a group of very strong and skilled forwards, and the skill only comes from playing the game.

An outright flyer is also an asset, maybe Rocket Rod Davies.

This is very interesting, we could very well miss out.

-Top 4 from IRB World Series rankings go through, usually from NZ, Fiji, Samoa, England (GB), South Africa.

-Next 6 are done be regions, if we're Oceania and one of Fiji/Samoa miss the top 4 we'd be in a playoff against them and I don't like our chances!

-Only one spot left seeing as Brazil should get auto qualification.

NZ, Fiji, South Africa, GB, Argentina, Canada, Kenya, Samoa, Japan, France, Brazil, Australia?

GB will interesting combining Scotland, Wales and England. What if only one of them is in the top 4, will GB be considered top 4?
Hopefully we will be an independent nation by then, so it wouldnt matter.

Not that we would qualify anyway!
Although by 2016 we could be in a situation of any team could win it. Who would have thought Spain, Kenya or even we would have done so well against the bigger nations this year.

^^^^ But by crikey, the Soap Dodgers were pretty quick to claim his victory as a great British (implied anglo) victory.

Fox really needs Fox Sports 4 during the winter months.

This is only going to encourage people to go hunting for streams (some questionable) on the net.

A rasberry to Foxtel from Chez Jarse. This coulda been another perfect rugby weekend, around the ovals and in front of the TV.

How can you win a tournament one week and then can't even get past the janitor the next week? Treu made some excuses but surely you can at least make a quarter or semi final. That one can understand but to go out boom in the group stage really there is no excuse. Treu is inconsistent and seems to crate a world class inconsistent team. #ReplaceHim

Oh sorry twitter got me into a habit hash tagging on every site

I have had to revise my initial Olympic assessment.
The assertion by O'Connor to the team last year that only contracted sevens players will be used in the Olympic campaign seems totally unrealistic.
The calibre of players now is well below par of the other teams and we now run the risk of actually dropping out of automatic participation in the IRB Sevens series.
Injuries have been horrific, walker while being great when he's on has shown his hammies are useless and won't give any semblance of reliability, McMahon has done his knee again, Crook is still to see a competitive run after an horrendous knee destruction last July and is unlikely to play this season, Jenkins is still suspect, we have no speed attack at all.
On top of that Palmer Fau looks really hesitant leaving only Holland and Parahi the only real attack and even that is thin.
I now feel somehow the sevens will have to come to some agreement with the super clubs to release key players such as JOC (James O'Connor), maybe Beale if he is still in rugby, Moraghan, Genia, Lucas and a few others to bolster the ranks for the 2014/15 season to at least qualify for Rio and then to have them available for the Olympics.
That al, takes away any incentive the current crop may have to persevere with what can only be described as inadequate financial compensation (many are only on meagre pay of $20,000 or similar).
With the high workload of training schedules and inability to have any additional income stream or study allocation many might think it not worth their while if they are going to be usurped by Wallaby ring ins.

Tokyo 7’s update after Day 1 Pool Play
NZL, FIJ and SAM only unbeaten teams.

Cup QF games for tomorrow are:
Fiji vs Australia
New Zealand vs United States
Samoa vs South Africa
Scotland vs France

If we get up against the Wizards in the QF, then we only need to beat the Darkness to make it to the Cup Final. No worries.

Cup QF games start at 10:28 Tokyo time tomorrow with FIJ vs AUS game.

Part of the reason must have to do with the ability of the various squads to adjust to the travel, the different conditions, living arrangements at what are a wide range of locations. Not to mention injuries, form, tactics, you name it. Let's face it, the Sevens circuit is always going to put huge demands on all the teams. Inconsistency is a given.

No worries, so our boys just need to beat the Darkness and the Meat Eaters to win this tournament.

Easy as! ........Yeah right!
