that parramatta eel guy is such a wannabe Josh Dugan / JOC (James O'Connor)

They should take aidan toua to the games he would be awesome at sevens

Denying turner and mccabe the oppurtunity to go to the games is pretty stupid by deans, why not let them sharpen up at the sevens its not likely that they will play a part in the tri nations

If its a good enough plan for Joe Rokocoko then its good enough for McCabe, turner and cummins

Have Turner and Cummins been ruled out of the sevens squad now?
What's to stop them completing the South African tour and then returning to the Sevens Team

The dates don't overlap do they?

I think they're still in the sevens. The games are played on the 11-12 October but they are in a camp at Darwin from 27 September before they fly to Delhi. They play in the FORU sevens tournament as a warm up before the games in Darwin on 1-3 October. They play against eight other Pacificc nations including Samoa, Tonga, New Guinea, Solomon Is etc

All they are missing is a few training sessions, (there are no tournaments at the moment) and it isn't like they will be eating KFC and doing nothing in SA.

Also the Sevens squad gets more "reputation" as being part of the Wallaby pathway, which is what O'Conner wants so he can recruit better kids into the pathway.

I also expect a couple of the sevens units to tour in November as well to play in the mid week games.

If Uni make the GF that's going to hurt. Losing McCutcheon and Phipps at that late stage would be tough

Really? Surely you will just promote a couple more Super 14 players out of your lower grades?

Eastwood loses Turner and Stannard. They will both be huge losses. Not that we will make the Grand Final, of course. ::)

Looking at the tea leaves I'm reading this into it:

1. The official squad hasn't changed from the one listed 2 weeks ago.
2. The mention of Seage as a fellow to be used in 7s is not relevant to this thread because it relates to after the Comm. Games
3. The mentions of players being dropped from the squad are assumptions, not fact.

Any rebuttals??

Yeah - it must be back a few pages now.

I wouldn't bother starting another one up - maybe just wait until November when the new squad is announced. Meantime use the old one.

I think it is a really good team that has played alot of footy together over the past 12months - capable of winning the gold on their day but it will be tough. Good luck to them.

Also I hope Turner doesn't injure himself in the match this weekend and rule him out of the Games as that will be a massive opportunity lost.
