Obvious they fancy their changes (in the past that was one of the reason why they do great in CC but fail in S14 rugby), nothing like the bolded bit from Disco.

I didn't hear the comments from Juan Smith so I don't know what was said word for word but going off the comments from the Rugby Club panel on foxsports Juan Smith has basically tallied up 5 points this week.
Oh well , lets see then. One of the most mysteries of the Cheetahs in the past is the reason why they play CC finals now for years and winning a few on the way but struggle for wooden spoon in Super Rugby. They win away from home with ease in CC but still keep on struggling in Super Rugby. They have identified its all between those two tin ears and this year decided they'll take their CC approach to Super Rugby. So maybe a good sign but I dont think they'll sommer write off teams beforehand. Surely not Tin Ear style.

Re: Tin Ears vs Reds

Just for interest I bolded the Griqua (bolded) influense starting getting their rightfull place within the Cheetah S14 franchise backline.
15 Riaan Viljoen, 14 Danwel Demas, 13 Robert Ebersohn, 12 Meyer Bosman, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 Naas Olivier, 9 Sarel Pretorius, 8 Ashley Johnson, 7 Juan Smith (c), 6 Hendro Scholtz, 5 Waltie Vermeulen, 4 Nico Breedt, 3 WP Nel, 2 Adriaan Strauss, 1 Wian du Preez

Dawie Theron x co coach of the forwards have sign a lot of Matie 2009 Varsity Cup winner youngsters to help them through this time of the season + WP and Boland stock. Griqua team look at the moment like this

Richard Lawson; Dewald Pretorius, Danwill Erasmus, Barry Geel, Zhahier Ryland; Coenie van Wyk, Marnus Hugo; Davon Raubenheimer, Jaco Nepgen, Rohan Kitshoff, Michael Passaportis, Cecil-John Kemp, Ruaan du Preez, Ryno Barnes, Albertus Buckle ©. Reserwes: Frik Venter, Jacobie Adriaanse, Ben Venter, Leon Karemaker, Donald Stevens, Divan van Zyl, Warren Malgas.

watching the Reds now...

rodney davies just ran the ball out from his own in goal, made 40m then kicked it down field, worked out well but had me nervous

21-10, 12 min to go

reds scrums getting battered... laurie weekes off injured
will genia and rodney davies just ran into each other trying to take a high kick, cooper went to regather and was tackled whilst trying to kick and missed the ball completely.. all looked pretty amateur

commentators continue to insist on miss calling rodney davies as will chambers

Scappy affair, Genia had a great game being captain but not as a half back. Far too many handling errors from the "general". Hynes was fantastic, Cooper should go for a hard look at himself, and his immaturity. He should grow up, there is no room for a trip in rugby lucky he only got a yellow card. Rod Davies should definitely be a starting winger for Va'lau after a stupid tackle and certainly failing to impress. Shame they couldn't get a bonus point. Schatz was disappointing, lacked abrasiveness at the break down. Failing to turn over, was a bit lazy. Let's hope this was just a warm up to South Africa, because that performance won't produce winning results in their next few games.

Cheetahs had a very poor game, capped off with very poor decision making.

Can I just say, I usually don't say positive things about referees. But Munro had a great game.

Got to agree that Hynes is looking very good this year. Been liking the look of him in all the games this year and good to see him bag a meat pie off the quick tap. Cheetahs really missed Juan Smith - hope his old man is ok.

Can't believe how stupid QC (Quade Cooper) was with that trip, the sort of thing you would expect in a under-10's game.

Now that monkey of winning at Bloemfontain is off our back, I reckon we are in good shape for the Sharks next week after their long tour. Hope Weekes isn't crocked, commentators didn't give any details after he went off.

Lee and I both commented what a bloody good ref he was after watching the Tahs/Lions match. Munro deserves to go higher.

Even though he got a yellow card can he still be suspended? It was such a stupid thing to do when it was easier to make the tackle.

Only saw the second half, and while they went too BBQ at times, by fuck the line defence and hit at the breakdown was good. What has Link done?

Van's taken the Caldwell mantle this year, and I do like Rocket Rods pace.

According to the match report on the QRU website:

Prop Greg Holmes earned his 50th cap for Queensland when he came on as second half replacement for Ben Daley.

Daley was forced to return at the 60m mark when tighthead prop Laurie Weeks came off with a corked thigh.

"We didn't take any risks with him (Weeks) and iced him up quickly, so he should be right for next week," McKenzie said.

Sounds like good news.

I thought the Cheetahs player was sprinting up to a penalty mark to take a quick tap, so he couldn't have been tackled anyway. Very stupid thing to do.

If it was in general play I would have thought it was stupid, but the fact that he did it when they were running for the 22, and it was 10 metres away from the Assistant Referee, well that's beyond idiocy.

Great news, however let's just hope they work on there scrummaging a bit more in the week, a few too many penalties. The Cheetahs scrum was superior to the reds.

Oath, I have to agree, I could not fault his performance in the slightest, one would wonder why he's not even on the top refs panel.

Except he didn't have a fucking Scooby at scrum time. Took him 7 scrums and 2 warnings before he finally pinged Nel for standing up every time. Scrum penalties were random after that.

Nah, he was going for a 22 dropout. Cooper obviously got it in his head to slow him down, but he's not the brightest bloke. I'm assuming he'll be cited and maybe miss a week or two.

Excellent performance from the Reds at altitude though. Huge hits from the forwards all night and brilliant defense from the backs, especially A. Finger. Simmons and big swearing Van are the form Aus locks at the moment with their work in tight. The Reds scrum still a worry though. Unstable all night.

Good stuff from the Reds. Genia was superb. Someone criticised him for knocking on twice - yet he was trying to get his his hands free for an offload. I prefer to see people having a go. Both of the times he knocked on, the Reds were in the opposition half.

What idiocy from Quade. Other than that he was v good. I counted 6 offloads from him in the first 10 mins. Amazing.

Reds scrum looks shoddy.

Ref was excellent between both 22s although he let both sides get away with murder at times when they were defending in their 22.

Ok I had only seen the fox highlights & didn't point that out.

Cooper went back to his old problems of just trying too hard to do everything. I think the Cheetahs centres had him under some pressure, and he tried to go himself too many times. When a few things didn't come off he got frustrated and did more than one very silly thing. He really is quite stupid at times. (That is an understatement).

Ref had no idea in the scrum. Not once did the Cheetahs props get done for packing with their shoulders about a foot lower than their bums. How is anyone meant to keep a bind on when they do that? Mind you Daley looked pretty crap at scrum time from my perspective.

Also didn't like how, on one scrum he moved over to the other side, then decided to penalise the Reds on the side he was previously on.

Gah just saw the completely uncalled for, random trip by Quade on foxsports. What a complete brainfart, if he gets suspended for that he will really stuff up the Reds season. Having said that, the trip actually wasn't that bad, but the intention was there.

He probably won't get suspended, because a Sharks player did a similar thing against the Tahs. Hopefully Link rips into him to grow the fuck up, he's no longer a child.
