Word from Cranbrook that Brown is out again due to the injury to his ankle re-surfacing on the weekend. Hopefully he will be back in time for the Scotts college game.
Watching the game it was clear that having the previous outside at fullback and brown at 13 made a huge difference. Cranbrook looked threatening in attack with this setup. However with Brown leaving the field injured, coupled with injuries from the 2nds meant Cranbrook was not able to play an attacking game, as such letting the game go and losing 10-15 in the final stages of the game. This was mainly due to the extremely defensive stance Cranbrook took in the time directly after they led the game 10-8. This defensive stance arguably cost them the game. If Cranbrook had the confidence to attack and take more chances the outcome would have been extremely different, hopefully they will attempt to take more chances in future games and start to score points.
The standouts for Cranbrook were 8 and 1. 1 (P. Cockinos?) played a particularly good game, really standing up for rep honours later in the season, he was effective in both attack and defence and doesnt have a bad set of hands on him. I was surprised to see a new 3 on the field for Cranbrook, I thought the previous prop was a better player to the one who replaced him; could anyone explain this replacement?
Despite all this talk about how good Cranbrook is Barker did play a good game and deserved to win although it was a closely fought game until the end.
