If I read the stars correctly (as a currently a paid up member of the ARU stargazers and forecasters society), I predict that this will be Mowen's last year with the Brumbies.
Why you might ask? Well as an ARU stargazer, I can't see him in the mix for the Wallabies series with other players coming back (Higgensbotham, Palu). This is why he can't obtain a better pay deal from the ARU.
Therefore he will raise anchor and set sail for more financially rewarding climates. He now has the CV, and he's not getting any younger.
He would like one last crack at the Super 15 premiership, 'tis all.
And the Reds will probably deny him that.;)

It would be tragedy to see this playing roster be forced to split up.
How the hell does the tahs manage to stay under the salary cap?? *coughs* ground hire fees *cough*

We are probably gonna lose LILO (he mentioned going to Melbourne in the future I think)
Probably the first time I'm disliking the salary cap system

I hope the Brumbies can keep their group together. Should you end up losing some, I hope your under structures are strong enough to have capable players step up.

Just good for rugby that one.

So no Lealiifano for a few months. Who should we play at 12?
To'omua? Coleman? A. Smith? Cronje? Van Der Walt?

No Mogg for a few games either. Depending on how Kuridrani's suspension is working, he might not be there either.

Here's the lineup I would use until we have everyone available.
White, Cronje, Tomane, To'omua, A. Smith, Speight, Coleman

Wow - you can't find a spot for McCabe even with all those injuries.

Lealiifano, who the Rebels have made overtures to in the past, admits he would consider a return to Melbourne when his Brumbies contract expires at the end of next season, if only to appease his mother and her wish for his return.
''Obviously you want to stay where you grew up and, to not have a side here, I was always going to be disappointed that I had to move elsewhere,'' Lealiifano said.
''A big reason I would want to come home is to inspire the young generation down here … there's so much talent down [here].''

The heat is on Lealiifano wherever he goes.

Cooper is currently a lock at 10 and there is stiff competition from Bernard Foley as number 2.

To'omua looked better at 12 than Lealiifano did, although Lealiifano's game against Wales was good. I personally think Godwin is better than both of them. Needs more experience though.

The only thing Lealiifano has going for him (which admittedly is big) is his kicking, but that fell apart against Scotland and you wouldn't want that to happen again.

Being in Melbourne wouldn't change any of that.

Scotland was an aberration, no one would be able to kick well on that pitch.

RE his position, flyhalf is his best. 2012 was an astonishingly good season for him, and with To'omua showing he's dominated the 12 jersey in the Wallabies, you'd have to hope that Bernie and Gandalf didn't miss it.

Missing the first few rounds will not be great, but no big problem. I'd love to see him move into the 10 jersey after a few games off the bench to get his fitness and form back, and allow To'omua to really nail down the 12 jersey, as that's where Link seems to see him playing.

If Lealiifano plays 10, and Cooper doesn't have such a great season, we're then not losing anything in terms of players gelling in such a key axis. If Cooper keeps improving, then Lealiifano is the best option for the bench as he covers both positions, and we lost nothing in the goal kicking (gain, if anything) if Cooper/To'omua need to come off.
