according to the various contributors on the Oz Schools thread, the Brumbies will have possibly half a dozen 2010 schoolboys in their Academy in 2011, plus additional grade/colts players after the upcoming trail days.

The schoolboys mentioned so far are; Crook (Winger 2010), Holland (Fullback 2010), Roach (Hooker 2009 and 2010), Stirzaker (Halfback 2009), Cusak (no. 8 2010). plus others speculated upon. Can they all be accomodated? Is there sufficient playing opportunities within DC's programme? The most important thing for young players is to play, not watch themselves in the gym mirrors as they do in the Tah academy!

But we don't know who are only amateur signings which doesn't signify a whole lot.

Crook will probably get paid as he is rumoured to be tagged for Oz 7s duty and young 7s players are usually in pro academies. But we shouldn't get too excited about the others just yet.

The Qld Uni fans are coming up with some excuses despite getting flogged by the RUNNERS UP in the supposed lesser ACT competition...

Does anyone in Canberra have any update on the progress of the Brumbies Academy trials which are on at the moment? A few Randwick lads have gone down, as have a few from the Newcastle-Hunter region.

Not technically Rugby related but the Brumbies have been knocked back on their application to redevelop their training base. The current facilities, which have been used since 1996, are probably the worst amongst the Australian Super teams (not sure what Melbourne has yet) and were in dire need of a facelift. The local residents opposed their plans and the Government planning authority finally killed off the plans yesterday by saying the current laws could not be amended to allow the changes. This came on the back of the training oval gaining heritage listing a few months back.

This means that 2011 will be the final year in the current location and the search begins for a new home. The current setupwas probably one of the draw cards for interstate players coming to a place where home and the training base were not too far apart.

As a sidenote, The Western Force have a new training and administration base on the way http://rugbywa.com.au/news/article,58155.html

Good Luck to Noodles Kimlin in Exeter...

Moving on… Its joke the Brumbies will have to move… Locals Griffith residents who stopped the development proposal are a bunch of wowsers, naysayers and recalcitrant aged grannies... The area is full of parks right next to Griffith oval.

A community is not just the household residents but the service providers and organisations that work within the area. That said lets hope the Brumbies can build a new training facility attached to Manuka oval or the like…. Jeez what selfish residents… They go too far…

Hearing reports that Stephen Hoiles could miss the start of the 2011 season after undergoing surgery for a back injury.

This could mean Salvi to #8 and either C Finger or Hooper at #7

It won't happen but Chapman at #6, Finger at #7 and Elsom at #8 would be best with Kimlin, Chisholm and Hand fighting it out at lock...

IMO :-

6. Kimlin
7. Salvi
8. Elsom

Chisholm and Hand in 2nd Row and Chapman on the bench to cover 6, 8 and Lock and Hooper for 7 cover.
