I'm sure I heard on the radio last night that one of the Super teams are intersted in signing him. Just didn't hear which team. Was definitely his name though.

You'd hope it would be the Brumbies. A potential professional rugby player probably wouldn't spend a whole lote of time playing in Canberra unless he knew the Brums were having a serious look at him.

I don't know about that generalisation enforcer.

Plenty of young polynesian kids running around in the local comps just because their families have moved here from NZ/WS/Tonga or the regional areas

QBN and Vikings are fairly decent sides, even compared to some of the Sydney comp clubs

I beleive he was scouted by the Brumbies while playing for the Tongan side at the Kiama Sevens tournament earlier this year and has been playing with Queanbeyan in the Canberra comp since. Another winger Brumbies may be looking at would be Dan Yakapo from the Vikings side who toured this year on the Aussie Sevens circuit and is a regular in their runners side

The local news here in Canberra last night said that Brumbies were keeping a close eye on Lindsay Crook and a couple of other wingers (sorry couldn't catch there names) as bolters for the Brumbies next year.

Crook has signed with the Brumbies or is it he Brumbies have signed Crook, one way or the other he is Canberra bound and I was told they regard him more as 13 or even 15 than an outside man.

Yeah, that's why I said probably.

There's no arguing more players get picked from the NSW and QLD comps then the ACT one, if I was any good I know where I'd be.

I'm certainly not attacking the quality of ACT rugby or Canberra as a city, I have a mate at ANU that loves the place. It's just about getting maximum exposure for your rugby.

Nor is uni a comparison to the rest of the competition

Yes and no

Good signing... This kid can move... I am not sure that it would be the best move to rush him into the centres. While with ball in hand he is at the elite end of the scale, defensively he is fragile at this stage and his handling is not that of a quality 13. 15 probably, but I hope they don't rush him to the centres just yet. He is a big rig and will be capable of being a decent 13 but I would say keep him as a finisher or a 15 until such time that his confidence in contact matches his physical stature.

I don't know there. After watching his hits in the 2 tests against Samoa and Fiji i didn't see any fragility at all infact there were two which were seriously effective. Past impressions are certainly not the case no or so it would seem. I even thought at the Samoa game he would be very effective as a 13. One thing is certain however he definitely needs to be given ball.

Exactly so, but he's had that trouble in his school team also.

A pity he wouldn't have had a chance with the Reds, but as I mentioned about 12 months ago: with all their young gun outside backs already in the stable he was likely to move south. The other Oz Schools winger, CFS, may find himself in the same boat, but he has more time to contemplate things as he is likely still at school next year.

I wouldn't use any schools player as a 13 who hasn't played there before, or very little.

It's not too bad when your team has the ball but when the opponent backs are running at you it's a bit like defending against a pinball: everything appears to be happening at once, yet you are expected to be the middle linebacker in the area.

Not trying at all to say that Vikings or QBN could match Uni, but for the recent ACT grand final Tuggeranong had a decent team on Paper

1. Sione Tuala, 2. Colin Montgomery, 3. Mike Noble (played Provincial rugby in NZ), 4. Phoenix Battye (Aus u20's, Western Force contract 2011), 5. Keane Wheeler, 6. Julian Salvi (Aus A, Brumbies, Bath), 7. Scott Irwin, 8. Jesse Parahi (Aus Schoolboys, Brumbies Academy, Aus 7's) 9. Beau Mokotupu (Canberra Vikings, winner of ACT player of the year numerous years), 10. Rod Esekia (Aus Schoolboys, Brumbies Academy), 11. Dan Yakopo (Australian 7's), 12. Tim Curran (has played Aus 7's, former Academy player), 13. Francis Fainifo (Aus A, Brumbies) 14. Jake Knight, 15. Isikele Ratulevu

Also on the bench was Colby Fainga'a (Brumbies, Aus 20's, Aus 7's), Sam Yakopo (Aus A schools), Kyron Pita (played Provincial Rugby in NZ).

Queanbeyan also had 1. Chris Barbaro (Academy), 12. Robbie Coleman (Aus Schools, Aus u20s x2, Aus 7s, Brumbies), 5. Tim MacNamara (Aus Schools), 9. Nic White (Aus u20's, Aus 7's, Brumbies), 13. Villiama Iongi (destined for super rugby), 11. Tyler Stevens (Aus schools).

Majority of these players would be run on in most Shute Shield sides.

Big score. Were both teams at full strength?

Some teams peak for the GF, and what happens after that is not important.

Compare Randwick performance vs Manly over the last two weeks. The understrength Randwick outfit underperformed last week when there was little at stake. Near full strength today with plenth to play for, saw a different Randwick performance.

Don't the vikings have a history of performing well in the Brisbane Competition?

Vikings were near full strength, plus giving some colts etc a run. I'm not sure about University, i think they were probably 50-50 with players from the GF and players from colts and lower grades.

The Canberra Vikings have a strong history in Brisbane comp, which was practically a rep team full of the Canberra amateur players. Not the Tuggeranong Vikings.

Runners up Vikings also played the 2010 premiership winning University (Brisbane) side today in the interstate challenge. Vikings won 76-28

After seeing the Uni boys out on mad monday, I'm guessing the Uni team wasnt full strength. But congratulations to the Vikings.
