Yeah unless it was an extraordinary cut i kind of think he'd be the first to accept it. But could be wrong.

Yep, one thing I've long admired about Michael is his pride in that gold jersey. I don't think I've seen too many players who have played harder for the Wallabies than him in the last decade.

after Vic's new COVID-19 spike, Queensland has announced that any Queensland team who plays against a Melbourne team in Queensland is required to quarantine after the match for 14 days.
They just say "Melbourne Team" nothing about if they've been quarantining already or out of the state for over 2 weeks, so hopefully Melbourne in Canberra will be fine. Just means Rebels players can't go home 2 weeks before playing QLD.

Well the Reds are meant to travel to Melbourne next week,

I think other states will experience a increase in Covid numbers shortly, Melbourne has taken the same measures as other states. It's just happened here first. Yes, it's worse for Melbourne and Sydney cause the hotel quarantine here as our air ports are the only ones accepting international flights.

Would seem like we're heading towards none of Victoria's sporting teams returning to Victoria prior to the competitions finishing. AFL is obviously going to be the most difficult given how many Victorian teams there are. They are surely staring down the barrel of their competition having to stop if they don't though.

also we can't play a team who has played a Melbourne team....so hopefully the Rebels got out in time.

They will have to fiddle with the draw:

Rnd 1:

Reds v Tahs
Brumbies v Rebels

Rnd 2:

Rebels v Reds
Tahs v Force

But the cost of this? Who is paying to put up the Force?

Who will pay to put up the Rebels?

RA or the teams themselves?

Yeah give the Rebels the bye in week 2 and make it Brumbies v Reds

EDIT: that won't work either. The only viable option now is to sit the Rebels out in week 1 and the Force play in their place. But are they ready for that? Also, as Reg says, if the Rebs are going to stay away for 10 weeks, who pays?

Is this going to make it unworkable for every competition unless Victorian teams leave Victoria and Queensland teams leave Queensland?

The NRL is probably the only one who can manage it easily enough as there is only 1 Victorian team and 3 Queensland teams.

well its obvious, if the Reds dont turn up to AAMI, they simply have to forfeit the game against the the Rebels. :)

Also is this all moot if QLD open up to Australia on July 10? Or is that date being re-visited?

The announcement of the 14 day quarantine for Qld sporting teams having played a Victorian team is new so presumably the July 10 stuff will be changing in respect to Victoria at least.

Why is that easier than having 1 Victorian team and 1 Queensland team?

Because 40% of our 5 team competition is from Victoria or Queensland.

25% of the NRL being from one of those states is still significant but with only one Victorian team presumably if they decide they aren't returning to Victoria at all then exemptions can be given at some point. They also have more flexibility to rejig a draw and group matches between "difficult" clubs.
