that is true, but certainly not worse then White. Phipps had many in front of the man that straight away got our back-line firing. White was liabilty the previous 2 Tests and I don't think the same can be said about Phipps, he was more an asset then a liability

Unfortunately White without his boot, isn't much at all. .
Phipps made more mistakes tonight than White in the previous two games against a superior opponent. Where was White a liability in either performance against the AB. He was the victim of a fly half standing deep and a forward pack not going forward and still managed to deliver quick accurate ball whilst on the paddock.
Phipps made a number of errors with passes and failed to clear from inside the 22 and passed pressure and gave up yards by passing to someone else under greater pressure to clear the ball.
The wallaby performance tonight has a number of issues and the halves remain one.

Are you trying to win the award for most humble fan? Tell us what you really think, you guys were robbed.
I feel we've moaned enough as a team and as supporters in the past.

The result sucks but hey, you also botched a sure try and still outscored us. Hopefully we can move on. The reality is I expect the Boks to be good enough so results can't be disputed based on the referee's performance on the day.

I feel we had the chance to come out on top despite the referee today but we still managed to snatch defeat in the face of victory. We simply have to be better.

Had the clearance kick gone out we may have won. That's something we can work on that's not influenced by the referee. If Morne converted the one he missed we'd probably have drawn. We made some shocking kicking errors during crucial times.

Similarly the Wallabies might not have needed a little bit of luck if they had scored that try or also converted their first try.

Simple things the team and individuals can work on. I don't berate Morne for missing, everyone misses now and again. I'd rather blame our performance than the ref. I think it's more productive to seek excellence in any event.

I'm holding thumbs that the team and management take the same attitude and that they be honest with themselves rather than making remarks in the media about the officials. The team did well last year after the Eden Park game.

At the end of the day winners improve and don't seek to blame. Blame also alienates the rest of the world from the team.

People love the All Blacks because they nigh always win and hardly ever complain. I love my team and I'd like the rest of the neutral world to love them too because they win and don't complain.

Just having a look at the stats, as usual the standout is Cliffy Palu. I thought he was quiet, but in 60 minutes he made 13 tackles with no misses. Easily tops the count. Fardy played the full 80 and only made 4.

Hooper next best with 10, then Kuridrani and Foley with 7 each.

When I watch the replay my 'player in focus' this time is going to be Matt To'omua..opinions are very divided here.

My read on his performance as it stands is that he did some good things but didn't necessarily have a net positive impact on the game..I can think of at least 2 kicks that didn't go to plan on top of last game's non-touch finder (from memory one was an in play kick that went dead and the other was a kick off that went out on the full)..but no one has mentioned these so I may be wrong

Will report back..

Palu is analogous to an engine..he might appear to be invisible but you can be assured he is in there doing something all the time..

If higgers is to start it should be for fardy although there is a case to rest Palu, a week on the bench would do him good both mentally and physically..only a week though

All the forwards should make a lot of tackles, particularly those who stay around the fringes for most of the game.
What about carries, running metres, off loads and active involvements at the breakdown.Turnovers/handling errors? Every different site gives a different set of stats.
Cliffy makes a lot of tackles. Agreed, but he needs to do more.
How are Vermulens stats?

Thanks Dan54,

I'm glad you see the value in my plea. Love the sport more than most things. I don't watch all Super Rugby or CC games because I don't have satellite but I always go out of my way to watch the Springboks play. My colleagues and many others locally admit to putting their province above the national side.

One such bloke has reiterated that WP means more to him than the Stormers and so also the Springboks. I guess the provincial rivalry will always be rife around here and perhaps these ideologies stem from the older generation that lived through isolation. Supporting your team in the Currie Cup was the closest you'd get to patriotism.

I'm of a younger generation. While the history of our game is something I embrace by accepting both the good and the bad, the national team's performance is what my pride is tied to.

In the meanwhile Habana has blamed himself, Heyneke has congratulated Australia and refuses to make excuses while de Villiers has lamented the mistakes the team made. I'm very glad about that.

This, to me, says more about the team culture and where they are heading than yesterday's result. It lends fuel to my faith reading such statements that they'll be alright.

So, as usual, he went missing and did nothing?

My thoughts too when it happened, but on reflection, if he had let it bounce it could have gone the ten and been retained by the Saffas. In the circumstances, was the best decision.

Horwill might not be in career best form but this highlights the benefits of experience. He Knew what to do and without doubts, just did it.

This is not a bad attribute when then Wallabies look completely short of leadership.

TBH, the man love on here for Hooper has completely shielded his sub-standard captaincy. Maybe he will develop it into the future but he can practice at a lower level and not the bloody international arena.

Phipps was ok but not perfect. In saying that and how our pack came under great pressure, I have no problem going out on a limb and saying he handled it better than White would of who can be very flakey when under pressure and Phipp's for most of his career has had to adjust to less than dominant packs.

Yeah I know, that was a fucking joke as well. At least you could put that down to a split-second call in the heat of the moment. Clancy got two chances and fucked up both of them.

Clancy can own his own fuck up without doubt. All three officials botched the call against the Argies, not to mention Savea being taken without the ball earlier in the game.

Go back and look at it again - Beale stands deep so he can run into the ball put in front of him.

White threw it straight at him most of the time. Failure to understand the basics.

Bottom line: we have scored 4 tries in TRC with Phipps on the field, and zero with White on the field. Results matter.
