All Blacks & All Blacks XV EOYT 2024

1news has a slightly different team sheet:

1. Tamaiti Williams, 2. Asafo Aumua, 3. Pasilio Tosi, 4. Sam Darry, 5. Patrick Tuipulotu (c), 6. Samipeni Finau, 7. Sam Cane, 8. Wallace Sititi, 9. Cam Roigard, 10. Damian McKenzie, 11. Mark Tele'a, 12. Anton Lienert-Brown, 13. Billy Proctor, 14. Sevu Reece, 15. Stephen Perofeta. Reserves: 16. George Bell, 17. Ofa Tu’ungafasi, 18. Fletcher Newell, 19. Josh Lord, 20. Peter Lakai*, 21. TJ Perenara, 22. David Havili, 23. Ruben Love*.

* Potential debutant

Must surely be the largest front-row the ABs have ever fielded. Seems like less of a front-row and more of an elephant seal colony at this point. Good to see Roigard back and Proctor at centre. On the other hand, lol @ Perenara and Havili. One of Ratima/Hotham and Rieko would've been better, with him coming on to cover a winger (and only at centre if there's an injury).

Would love to seem them play some Vern ball for the opening half to just bludgeon Stead Eddies tricky dicky lot into oblivion.

Refs have been instructed to, among other things, penalise players who get in the way of box-kick chasers even if they don't change their line: slowing down or stopping to block a chaser is now to be sanctioned.

Because more box kicking is just what the game needs, eh

I will be honest Kiwi, I actually at moment think Vai'i is playing best of our locks, but I sure Scobar is going alright, just not in loose etc where we tend to notice on tv.

Alright isn't good enough for AB captain is my point. He needs to be more prominent.

Bear in mind as a leader we have had a real issue with our second halves this season and he hasn't stood up in this period.

I'm confident he will return to form (either on this tour or next year).

Japan

In:
Kazuki Himeno

Out: Michael Leitch, Rikiya Matsuda, Kotaro Matsushima, 1st 5 and ace kicker Lee Seung Sin
399kg combined (Williams 144, Aumua 109, Tosi 146) if you believe the stats. With two ~120kg locks behind them. That's some serious grunt right there.
.....and behind them Cane and Finau who aint exactly svelte. And Sititi. Surely the biggest pack in AB history.

Rassie to Kolbe; "While the ball is up in the air, just run into anyone and scream and throw your arms up in the air and dive on the ground like a soccer guy. If the opponent looks like he is trying to get out of your way just pretend to look up at the ball and change your line so you run into him anyway. They will be compelled into awarding us a penalty so it looks like they are enforcing their new rule."

LOL, locks and loosies contain a grand total of 1 Japanese lad.

1st 5 is a 48-year old 2nd 5.

Gaijin centres.

Gaijin wings.

Eddie the Mercenary not a single fuck given about Japan or the Japanese here.

The number 12 sounds super Japanese. Doesn't look like he ever had a professional gig in NZ, now starting for Japan.

would love it if a REAL j-bigwig - the CEO of Toyota or some shit - pulled a Kerry Packer and casually flicked on the telly to watch the game and to his horror saw his pure-blooded master-race rugby sport national team were all represented by gaijin.

"Listen, Jones, you gaijin c***, before the 2nd half starts you sub ALL 9 of those anjin barbarians OFF the fucking field, pile all 9 of the mercenary wankers into 1 taxi and send them straight to Narita Airport. And be sure you bill the cheeky savages for the taxi too. Obviously, we're only selecting actual Japanese people from now, you know, Japanese nationals with Japanese passports, a novel concept I know. Are we clear on that you piss-taking little fuckwit? Good, if I have to ring you again it's to tell you you're fired and we're biffing you and your anjin mates into an undocumented detention hole in Tokyo for 6 months. Wankers."

This hot potato stuff is boring af. Just wanna watch some Vern Ball :(

It is, however, nice watching the centre throw good passes off both hands.

EDIT: Not sure what the All Blacks get out of this either. Aside from a demonstration of proper centre play.

Entertaining half of shits and giggles, bit of blood through the legs for the squaddies .

About 3 rucks in the half. You know whats working? The Hot Potato Stuff!

My biggest takeaway from that match is the Owen Franks seems to be one hell of a scrum coach.

Otherwise, a completely forgettable experience.

Madcap rocks and diamonds display from DMac. Kind of horrific really. Fairly sure Razor will go with Mrs BBarrett at 1st 5 up north after that lunacy.

Patty T did the biz.

"Dave" highlight; A brave and innovative kick pass to the wing! Sadly for "Dave", there was no one on the wing Or anywhere near the wing. Haha! "Dave" laughs it off. No worries, "Dave" your place is secure in the AB's for as long as you like. If an Auckland Blue did that shit they would never play for the All Blacks again. Dave. Ho ho, good ol' Dave.

interesting game again razor will be concerned about the lack of impact and cohesion of the bench falling away again
Thought aumua and pat t were strong up front and Sititi was a beast! He will be with savea in the starting pack for a while! Lakai another similar mould to savea and sititi
Great to see roigard back he will be the leading 9 soon and for a long time
McKenzie did some great things but stuffs up way to much, I think he had 6 errors or bad decisions 6 times in a row he touched the ball
Nz need to at least just get Richie back at some point to have a good 10
