More of the same in the second half with the Reds towards really getting dominance. 53-12 final score. Reds will want to be sharper going forward though, there were quite a few errors wasting breaks and good work done. Hopefully just that first round (for them) rust to shake out.

And there it is. It has been very obvious for a long time you have some sort of personal vendetta against Shane. Probably a father knowing the behaviour of most around the ACT. You’ve just been waiting for something to go wrong to say what you really think. The kid has worked his butt off for 13 years through the ACT system making grade and rep team based on the opinion of many different selectors. He doesn’t have a famous dad and has achieved everything he has based off merit and absolutely working his backside off. He is the most humble kid you will meet yet there seems to be locals who just want to bag him or even destroy him if they could any chance they get. And you want to sit behind a computer screen and froth over every new shiny player that waltz’s though this system then moves on for a better offer. Grow up. And if you happen to know who we are (his parents) come have chat to our faces next time you want to have a whinge about your perception of who he is as a player and a person.

I don't believe BR has a personal vendetta towards your son after making a solitary negative post about his performance in one game...

It might be in your best interest to avoid these kinds of discussion boards.

It's actually quite funny, BR has mentioned Wilcox a few times in the past couple years but only very positively. Tough crowd.

Shane Wilcox and Angus Staniforth outstanding in an excellently performing backline.
No Wilcox in the U19s? Injured, perhaps?
6. Player prospects : Longer term, there are exciting prospects in Tevita Alatini (THP), Liam Bowron (Hooker), Toby MacPherson (Lock), Lachlan Hooper (6/7/8), Lleyton Tuatua (6), Dan Nelson (No 9), Cullen Grey (10), Angus Staniforth (wing/15) and Shane Wilcox (15).
Otherwise, it is mainly a team of development players with most of the experienced players coming off the bench. A few from last year's U19s and U20s included - Wilcox (exciting No 15), Bowron (hooker), Alatini (most exciting No 3), Nelson (No 9), Gray (No 10) and Staniforth (very quick wing or No 15). Jensen, Thorn and Lachlan Hooper also appeared for the Junior Wallabies last year.

Looking forward to seeing many of the younger or newer players have a shot, especially Cale, Meredith, Shaw, Anderson, Alatini, Gray, Staniforth and Wilcox.
It was very hard to see the try scorers when most of the tries were scored at the far end of the ground, but I think they were, Wilcox, Pollard, Toole, Lonergan, Thorn, Staniforth and Ikitau. Seven tries to six by the Drua made for an entertaining game.
Grey (at 10) and Staniforth outplayed their opposites while Wilcox had his moments in attack, scoring a couple of tries.

Can anyone answer why the Aus 18s are playing during the Super Rugby 19s tournament. Surely the vast majority of these guys would potentially be available looking to play in this as well.

The Aust u18’s played 2 games in NZ just days apart, similar to the Aust Schoolboys who played 2 games just days apart in Fiji.
For the vast majority of these boys they now turn their attention to HSC examinations starting 15th October.

With the U19 Comp, it has 3 games to go (many involving interstate flights) finishing up on 3rd Nov. That and the fact there are plenty of quality 19yr olds fighting for spots without the need to push boys up a year group.

There are definitely a few that would start easily in this comp. It won't surprise me to see some get into the U20s squad and jump a few of these U19s.

There is a somewhat worry about saftey aspects of the young blokes in the U18s who might just be 17 which almost half the side is going against some boys nearing 20. Can be a big difference in strength.

Another could be the potential clash with year 12 exams that start over the next couple of weeks right? Could be wrong there with dates. It also lets more guys play more footy if spread out over the two age grades.

Yeah, essentially the U19’s are contracted academy/colts players…

The U18’s are schoolboys, with a broader and much younger age group, largely unattached, and many of them also play league and have already been courted by NRL teams:

Interesting games

Tahs with a week off having only played the Rebels and the Reds confidence must be really high after thumping the Brums. QLD need to get some wins over NSW in the age groups. Been a Blue wave for a few years now. QLD looked like they had some big ball runners in the 19s.

I was at Viking Park on the weekend and I must say the QLD U19 forwards especially their T5 are massive. They dominated Brumbies in the 2nd half.

They will be full of confidence leading up to this weekends game against the Tahs.

I saw a post recently that listed the Waratahs aligned No.8 players by age group:
U20 Leafi Talataina
U19 Eamon Doyle
U18 Toby Brial
U17 Heinz Lemoto
U16 Justice Taumoepeau

Not all will stay, but not all will end up at 8. Players like Doyle probably at 6, but Justice definitely has the ability to play 7 in future years.

Will avoid too much chat on some players here as they are pretty young.

I have a feeling we won’t see much of Lemoto in Rugby (really hope I’m wrong)

Tailalatiana looks like a genuine star from his time in the 20s when he was only 18?

Doyle has the ability to be a 4,5,6,8 and reminds me of Tom Hooper.

Brial looks a hard nosed 6 long term. He’s all work rate and hit ups.

Justice is very young still being 16 so who knows what he becomes but he’s a big unit for his age and his old man is definitely a big unit too so 7 feels a stretch in the Aussie mold of a 7 but his uncle is a pro Winger so who knows.

Also a very likely NSW won’t have all these guys on the books in a few years. Tahs export more talent then they hold.
