First time watching this level for a long time...looks go my like yo can't tackle any more every second tackle is a penalty for a high shot. Just saw a yellow for a tackle of a player going down and the tackling player had his arm under the other players arm it...

Bit of a demolition in the works in Canberra. Reds under 19s up 29-7 at half time. I missed the first 20 or so but it's been one way traffic since I tuned in and the Reds have probably left a couple of tries out there. If they tighten up a bit it could get really ugly.

Reds well in front but it has been a good contest at scrum time and the Brumbies backline looks to be sharper as a unit. The Reds have some excellent individual players. Brumbies making too many errors especially by the much vaunted fullback and captain, Wilcox. Probably poorest player on the field atm.

Interesting that Finn Baxter (son of Al) has the upper hand over King in the scrums.

From the bits I've seen it's the ruck security killing the Brumbies, not sure I've seen them put more than 2 or 3 phases together.

More of the same in the second half with the Reds towards really getting dominance. 53-12 final score. Reds will want to be sharper going forward though, there were quite a few errors wasting breaks and good work done. Hopefully just that first round (for them) rust to shake out.

According to my source. Quality source too. Fowler and Cullen Grey had a falling out with Nathan Grey during the U20’s Championship earlier this year in the Sunshine Coast. It is believed to have happened after the South Africa game. Of course Harry MP (Moana Pasifika) (Moana Pasifika) started the following game with Fowler on the bench, but not getting on. Both not included in World Cup squad. Would love to know what this is about?
That’s an interesting bit of inside information! If Fowler and Cullen Grey had a falling out with Nathan Grey during the U20s Championship, it could definitely explain why they were left out of the World Cup squad, especially after such a specific incident. Tensions between players and coaching staff can often lead to difficult decisions, and if the relationship soured after the South Africa game, it might have impacted team dynamics and selection decisions.

Harry MP (Moana Pasifika) (Moana Pasifika) starting the next game while Fowler stayed benched raises further questions. It’s always tough to know the full story in these situations, but it seems like the fallout might have played a part in both players being overlooked for the World Cup squad.

It would be really interesting to hear more details about what exactly happened. A disagreement with a coach like Nathan Grey, who has a strong coaching background, could definitely lead to selection consequences if it affected the team environment. Do you have any insights into what the disagreement was about?

And there it is. It has been very obvious for a long time you have some sort of personal vendetta against Shane. Probably a father knowing the behaviour of most around the ACT. You’ve just been waiting for something to go wrong to say what you really think. The kid has worked his butt off for 13 years through the ACT system making grade and rep team based on the opinion of many different selectors. He doesn’t have a famous dad and has achieved everything he has based off merit and absolutely working his backside off. He is the most humble kid you will meet yet there seems to be locals who just want to bag him or even destroy him if they could any chance they get. And you want to sit behind a computer screen and froth over every new shiny player that waltz’s though this system then moves on for a better offer. Grow up. And if you happen to know who we are (his parents) come have chat to our faces next time you want to have a whinge about your perception of who he is as a player and a person.

I don't believe BR has a personal vendetta towards your son after making a solitary negative post about his performance in one game...

It might be in your best interest to avoid these kinds of discussion boards.

It's actually quite funny, BR has mentioned Wilcox a few times in the past couple years but only very positively. Tough crowd.

Shane Wilcox and Angus Staniforth outstanding in an excellently performing backline.
No Wilcox in the U19s? Injured, perhaps?
6. Player prospects : Longer term, there are exciting prospects in Tevita Alatini (THP), Liam Bowron (Hooker), Toby MacPherson (Lock), Lachlan Hooper (6/7/8), Lleyton Tuatua (6), Dan Nelson (No 9), Cullen Grey (10), Angus Staniforth (wing/15) and Shane Wilcox (15).
Otherwise, it is mainly a team of development players with most of the experienced players coming off the bench. A few from last year's U19s and U20s included - Wilcox (exciting No 15), Bowron (hooker), Alatini (most exciting No 3), Nelson (No 9), Gray (No 10) and Staniforth (very quick wing or No 15). Jensen, Thorn and Lachlan Hooper also appeared for the Junior Wallabies last year.

Looking forward to seeing many of the younger or newer players have a shot, especially Cale, Meredith, Shaw, Anderson, Alatini, Gray, Staniforth and Wilcox.
It was very hard to see the try scorers when most of the tries were scored at the far end of the ground, but I think they were, Wilcox, Pollard, Toole, Lonergan, Thorn, Staniforth and Ikitau. Seven tries to six by the Drua made for an entertaining game.
Grey (at 10) and Staniforth outplayed their opposites while Wilcox had his moments in attack, scoring a couple of tries.

Can anyone answer why the Aus 18s are playing during the Super Rugby 19s tournament. Surely the vast majority of these guys would potentially be available looking to play in this as well.

The Aust u18’s played 2 games in NZ just days apart, similar to the Aust Schoolboys who played 2 games just days apart in Fiji.
For the vast majority of these boys they now turn their attention to HSC examinations starting 15th October.

With the U19 Comp, it has 3 games to go (many involving interstate flights) finishing up on 3rd Nov. That and the fact there are plenty of quality 19yr olds fighting for spots without the need to push boys up a year group.

Good question! It does seem odd. You’d think many U18s would want the chance to step up and play in the U19s tournament. Maybe it's a scheduling oversight or they're prioritizing different development pathways for each group
