What do Weeks and Lealiifano has to do to cop a game for Australia A, jez.

Lilo would definitely be more worthy of a spot over BKH but I guess we're short on wingers/outside centres...

Actually, who is the outside centre cover for AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) in the squad? I don't mean to continue putting down BKH but he's lucky to be in the training squad and the only other possibility would be to play Turner or A Finger there for midweek games...

So this really does raise the point - why wasn't Inman selected?

perhaps Deans will follow the Dwyer (was it Bob?) suggestion and play Higgers at 13.

Or Kepu....

I would have had Inman, Weeks and maybe the flano in the squad.

Players who I think will get cut:
Chapman
Edmonds
BKH
O'Connor/Dennis/Humphreys
Maybe another back to make way for Turner?

Nah, it was Spiro Zavos who suggested the Higgers at 13 nonsense Reg.

Bob's idea was for KB (Kurtley Beale) to end up there. Maybe not such a bad call after all, although I think he's found his true position.

I reckon they're going to use McCabe as a 13.

John Eales (66)
McCabe can play every position from 10 up, albeit not at the international level.

Perhaps Deans watched Lachie Turner play 13 for Eastwood and liked what he saw more than we thought.

Regardless of whether BKH tours, or not, there is no doubting Deans' high opinion of him as a versatile player.

Does anyone remember how well Mitchell went at 13 a couple of times for Randwick last year? AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is a converted wing/fullback, while Mortlock was a fullback who got his rep chances on the wing before holding down the 13. It seems to me that 13 is now a genuine outside back position as opposed to your 'midfield' of 10-12.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Umaga - one of the best 13s of the past decade - a winger originally?

As for BKH, didn't they screw up his Comm Games chances by not getting paperwork filled out? Sounds like they're feeling guilty and as an apology they're going to give him some training gear and get him to put on a tackle suit for a couple of weeks...

Mitchell spent time at 13 for the Reds too.

I thought the BKH deal, like Kingi, is that they both had kiwi passports.

My understanding is that despite Kiwi passports they qualified on residency, but the forms never got filled out until it was too late. They assumed the rules for the IRB, and hence the Sevens series, would suffice, but they were caught out. Every indication until the last camp was that BKH would be a part of the Comm Games team.

I asked JOC (James O'Connor) (on twitter) who lost the 2km run (JOC (James O'Connor) didn't in fact run)

@karmichaelhunt won't see me running a 2k anytime soon, got pulled after the 40's. Body doesn't agree with that distance atm haha

@RugbyReg think rocket rod davies lost the 2k, he's a pure speed athlete- smoked the 40m sprints tho ran a 4.7 something I think

Deans should maybe make the effort to check out the John I Dent Cup sometime...

Slim, who are the players in JID Cup who are better than BKH? If they are so good, why have they not been picked up by the Brumbies who IMO are desperately short of S15 quality outside backs?

Personally, I would rate Stubbs as a better player than BKH... he was also in the Brumbies Academy and Aus 7's squad (like BKH) and has been promoted to the Brumbies senior squad next year...

There's also the outside centre for Queanbeyan (whose name escapes me?) who is part of the Brumbies Academy.

BKH was also in the Brumbies Academy but can anyone tell me if the Brumbies wanted to promote him to the senior squad?

The Brumbies are hardly desperate for outside backs. Their problem is that they've got so many outside centres they don't really have any room for more specialist wingers.

BKH is a decent player, but good enough for the Wallabies? It does seem like he's being repaid for the ARU stuffing up his Comm Games opportunity.

Anyways, I was just wanting to point out that as far as I know Deans doesn't attend John I Dent Cup games. Which is pretty absurd considering the rugby talent that Canberra provides from such a small catchment...

Teams like Queanbeyan and Vikings would probably dominate in the QLD club comp.

Would have liked to see Inman make the squad, but am happy that Nathan Charles did. A real potential future Wallaby from what I've seen.

I don't know that I would have selected BKH after watching him for the Brumbies and Manly this year. He's not bad, but not international material yet. I similarly don't rate Lilo anywhere near as highly as To'omua. But with our probable 10 exodus after 2011, we'll probably need him.

don't kid yourself, the vikings managing to beat the uni 3rd grade side after a big night on the piss doesnt mean they could come any higher than 8th in the qld comp.

Almost all the Vikings were out celebrating the night before also... they took this game on short notice after Queanbeyan withdrew. If they were to enter the QLD competition they would finish much much higher than 8th, top 2 for I beleive. Also if they were to enter, you would find a lot of returning ACT players from the Shute Shield competition, and players coming across from the Queanbeyan side which would create a much stronger team.

BKH would obviously walk into any JID side, but I believe Coleman is a better 12 than him (though he is a 10), Stubbs and Iongi are better 13's, and Fainifo is a better winger/fullback.

i totally agree that there is alot of merit in a combined canberra team joining the shite shield or qld comp theyve shown in the past that they would obviously put a very strong team together that could win the qld comp and be very competitive in sydney, i just felt that saying quenbeyan and tuggeranong as they are would dominate was a bit rich

Slim, Deans doesnt come and watch any of the perth league, or the Melbourne league, or the Darwin league. He has missed the gems that populate the Adelaide league too.

Yes, but those are in a tier below the Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane competitions.

Id suggest that the Canberra comp is a tier below the Sydney league and possibly the Brisbane leaue.
My point is where does he stop?
Im guessing that he has decided (rightly or wrongly) at attending the Shute Shield and Brisbane Comp? and not any of the other leagues around the country.
