Guess the rumours they were going to move away from Kingi and onto Phipps have been disproved.

Good squad though, I think the risky selections like PO'C. He probably won't make it but the selection of him and Van shows the Wobs are looking for a big lock come WC time.

I suppose D.Fitzpatrick wouldn't be too happy with him non-selection but I feel it's fair, Charles has really come along.

If Kimlin's form for Exeter is good we should see him link up with Oz A at some point I hope.

BKH? I suspect there is an unwritten agreement to pick some 7s players in these expanded squads to help legitimise the 7s program as a way of enticing young players, not signed to S15 teams, to stick around.

We do have a whole heap of back 3 injuries.

He signed with the Tahs, didn't he? He played for the Brumbies this year.

Big one missing IMO is Lachie Turner. with BKH betting a spot just proves that Deans didn't learn from his disaster with the ABs and just loves his utilities. No room for genuine specialists. Maybe why Turner was playing 13 for the Woodies as well.

Agree. What has Turner done wrong?

He is a specialist. That is it IMO. What else has he done wrong on the field this year at any level. The real kick is that Cummins and McAbe get a start and both pulled out of the 7's injured (genuine injuries, I do not intend to imply they are not).

kingi deserves the thirds halfback spot in my opinion, because he has the creative spark to be a threat at that level. The others have proven that they don't. Regarding Lachie Turner, the 7s will be great for him and he will come back into the side when they are done. I expect Morahan to benefit greatly from the commonwealth games as well as he is shaping up as a very versatile outside back having played 15 for the U20s and 13 for the Premiership winning red heavies in QLD. Still a bolter for the world cup I reckon.

Id rather christian lealifano over BKH. Played and proved himself at super level. BKH had about 20 min this yeah at the most. Laughable really

Cummins and Lachie in the Oz 7s team so obviously not in the training squad. Turner will be in the final squad (injury permitting) at least you'd think.

Two questions if indeed this is the 40 that gets named, why take Huia Edmonds instead of Nathan Charles, and why Josh Valentine ahead of Pat Phibbs? Valentine didn't start for the Wicks because Phibbs is a better player and Josh can have brain explosions and back chats the ref regularly (maybe he was exposed to another Randwick 9 a bit too much.

Valentine regularly is the No 1 at the Brumbies. His pass is much better and IMO he is the better player. Phibbs gets in more arguments with referees - look how he got Dicko off-side on Saturday.

Good to see Nathan Charles included. I hope he tours and not Edmonds.

Can anybody work out who started in the Super14 this year and has been mentioned as a likely tourist but missed out on the 40 and not listed as injured?

Cross, Cummins, Waugh, Mowen, Baxter, Fairbrother, Weeks, G.Holmes, Sheehan, Valentine ...

I'm guessing Turner will go but isn't listed because he's in the 7s.

Agree. What has Turner done wrong?

Nothing. The reason he's not in the training squad is because he's at the Comm Games...

Definitely surprised by BKH's inclusion.

Deans should maybe make the effort to check out the John I Dent Cup sometime because I'm certain he could've pulled some players out of Canberra who are much better.

Valentine may be a regular starter at the Ponies but Phibbs got the Captaincy purely because he is in the opinion of the Wicks coaches and many others the first choice 9 in the club. Valentine almost got a yellow card a few weeks ago from Leckie because of his attitude and Dickenson would have frustrated Mother Theresa on Saturday, with so many 50:50 calls all going Unis way and then the rash of penalties against the Wicks which just weren't even offences. Pulling down at the Lineout (Uni lifters let go their man), Mcgann getting penlised for starting a push and shove with Carter who did start it, and getting warned as he had allegedly been involved in three incidents and the worst call of them all the alleged shoulder charge on Carter by Lam which got him a yellow card. Dickenson had a very poor day he would have sent Gregan off if he had been Captain faced with such an abysmal display.
