    Rebels 2013

Given that we only have Ged otherwise, I'd suspect we'd be looking for a ready to play hooker over some Kid.

    Rebels 2013

From what I have seen of Beale at 10 for the Rebels vs JOC (James O'Connor) at 10 for the Rebels, JOC (James O'Connor) better work on his game at 15.

    Foreign recruitment

That's how I read it. But these things are rarely set in stone. He's a 20(?) year old kid who still probably has strong ties to home at this point. Give him some time out in the wider world and we'll see.

    Waratahs 2013

Alternatively, we need more focus on skills coaching at an early stage rather than the path of least resistance to a win.

    Rebels 2013

Interesting article. I guess his patriotism is understandable at this point. Hopefully life in Melbourne will offer him some reasons to consider developing as an Australian player instead of a New Zealand one. I'd prefer to think that the Rebels are investing in Australia's rugby future.

Beale and Cooper in boozy incident

It should be pointed out that it may be very difficult for the prosecution to prove their case if they are missing a key witness such as the victim in this matter. There may have been others present but the absence of the victim in a case such as this would be quite a blow.

That doesn't seem so different to Foley by all reports. I am merely pointing out that people sometimes unfairly identify that players as only able to play a certain position because that is where they looked good at one point. What invariably matters more is where he wants to play than where...

    Foreign recruitment

Ultimately, its a professional game and players will move to where they have the best opportunities. The reality of sport in Australia is that we are going to lose a ton of athletes to AFL and NRL just because of the level of general public support and media exposure they have. Recruiting...

    Rebels 2013

I am very personally aware of the great variance of intellectual capacities of people studying and practicing law. However, I'd venture that more often than not they are at least reasonably intelligent. Alternatively, those that are not (and successfully complete their studies) are generally...

    Rebels 2013

Contrast that with Michael Lynagh and Nick Farr Jones who were an Engineer and a Lawyer respectively. Admittedly, that was before the professional game, but I would suggest that they'd probably be pretty bright fellows anyway.

    Waratahs 2013

"Converted 15s" (Larkham and now Beale) seem to do alright as 10s. Especially if they have a passing game worth talking about which it appears Foley does.

    Rebels 2013

After reading this, I did a little looking into the bloke on the internet. Some may disagree, but I do like that aside from rugby he appears to be doing a Law course. It gives me cause to think that he might have a bit of an intellect as well as athletic ability. I'm of the opinion that smarts...

He's Sevens capped per images on the internet.

    Dictatorial vs Inclusive coaching

The weird thing about this whole conversation is that 6 years ago, many of the people who are lambasting Deans for being too 'dictatorial' were having a go at Connolly for 'not being directly involved enough with the players'. Seems a bit of trying to have it both ways to me.

He works bloody hard and tends to do the non-flashy stuff well.

    Dictatorial vs Inclusive coaching

I read the article earlier today. Both at that time and now, I dismissed it as Spiro playing his role as a general cheerleader for the ARU etc... It has been generally the position he has taken in most of the articles I have read of his so I rarely pay them any mind.

Evolution at Green and Gold Rugby - PLEASE READ

I'll be the first to agree to some extent that the posting quality has gone downhill somewhat as the userbase has expanded. I suspect that stems largely from getting more outspoken people who tend to dominate the conversations via posting more often (the internet equivalent of talking more...

    Western Force 2013

From what I understand, he'd be more of a Wing.

    Rebels 2013

Lets be realistic. The 'backroom jobs' were always part of the deal with the older players to lure them down and provide some older heads when starting up the franchise. It provides them with security for the transition period between playing and non-playing careers. That being said, all of...

    Waratahs 2013

I don't think that's particularly true. Both have had some unfortunate injuries but I would suggest that Beale matured as a playmaker when he was on the park with the Rebels, a process which has continued at the Wallabies. I'm going to remain conspicuously quiet about JOC (James O'Connor) though.
