Rather than taking tackles and driving forward, staying close to the ruck and using strength dependent tactics when running the ball, playing light refers to players opting to run around players, link with others by drawing (but not taking) tackles and "seagulling" in the backline. I apologise.

Well, the scrum half may not be able to harass the 8 as he is picking up the ball, but by hanging back they can form a solid defensive line with the backrower on whichever side they are on when they detach. If the scrum is being pushed over the goal line, the goal line would become the offside...

I was really only referring to his running game. I didn't see much of his set piece play, mostly his stuff in the loose, so I can't comment.

Having seen highlights from his form in England, I think he's too light to play hooker in the Super 15 anyway. Plays like a short, bulky centre.

I don't think we can say that. Sure he looked sparky, but he's played less footy for the Tahs than Cam Jowitt.
