    Where to for Super Rugby?

Oz fans make the mistake of thinking nz rugby might actually care about how rugby is going in Oz. But it most certainly doesn’t. We are great cannon fodder for their Super Rugby teams. Good training runs - not as tough as their own derbies which they believe take too much out of their players. And...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

SA broadcast dollars make the biggest contribution to the re-distribution pool. SA needs are always paramount. NZ are then second in the pecking order. unfortunately its just a fact that Australia's needs come last. we all need SA to keep getting the big $. NZ look like they will have some...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I have a kiwi mate who complains that any non-nz game is on at a bad time for them. Oz games kick off at 9.45/10pm and SA games at 1am or 3am. So I think we get a pretty good deal with 5.30pm games followed by our 7.45pm game. My biggest complaint is that we don’t fill the 7.30 slot every fri...

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

I wouldnt say TV viewership is doing alright. RA's own stated target is 100k viewers for each game involving Australian teams. the average is about 55k. crowds are abysmal. need to be careful at just looking at improvements on last couple of years. a long way to go yet.

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

RA in the last day has begun referring to a 10% increase in Super Rugby viewers. Reading this thread throughout the year, I didn’t get the sense there had been an uplift. 2018 must have been really bad!!

    The Israel Folau saga

I’d rather not have far right wing opinion sites like Quilette in amongst my rugby chat if it can be helped.

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

If you divide total minutes by 100 (90mins playing time + half time break) you’d get an approximation if you assume all users watched the whole game. In this case about 165,000

    Australian Rugby / RA

All people are created equally but not all are treated equally. Gay people have been singled out - not by them - but by the majority. The way they express their love was singled out as a criminal offence. Their desire to express their love via marriage singled out as illegal. They’ve been...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

yep, it'll be interesting to see if any FTA think they can turn a buck out of it and takes it on.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

so overnight news sees Fox off loading A-League games to FTA so they can cut the broadcast production costs. whichever FTA channel picks up the game they will also pick up the broadcast costs. 2 of the 5 weekly games are to be offloaded. Fox is looking desperate. A-League might have 4 years...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The only thought that consoles me is that the board absolute know all this, but unlike us, they also know that there is no other offer of money for any other format. If this is the real state of play, what I would like the board to do, is come out and publicly announce that. Tell us that our...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

From Pravda aka rugby.com.au “Rugby Australia CEO Raelene Castle says there's no "magic bullet" to reviving Super Rugby crowds after a number of disappointing turnouts in 2019. Average crowds for Super Rugby have been low this season, with conference leaders the Brumbies battling to get more...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

and yes Super Rugby is toast. a failed competition in Australia. and RA and state unions have found themselves in a mighty catch 22. leave it and they go broke quickly. stay and they go broke slowly. what is quite clear is that crowds and viewers have already made up their minds...
