Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

I thought they had done some work on it Strewth but ain't gonna change overnight. The split by SA and reform to drive over is pretty hard to get right in our D, once from the lineout and once during the maul (2nd 40?)

But he turned a serious slump into a rout, followed by humiliation.

    Wallabies 2024

I was very encouraged by the game last night. I thought our forwards stood up and the backs will improve with better and more consistent ball. My view is the rebuild has started from last night, it won't be a linear improvement but by the end of this year, I am feeling confident we will be in...

I would agree BUT I'm not pocketing my criticism of him until I have seen a few more games like last night....

LB, not so you can replace a player anytime you like. The problem was the uncontested scrums but that is another issue and they have an argument. How would you feel if Bell went on and we lost him for another year?

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

Agree, but in the absence of Kerevi or Petaia then he might give the backs some space and he can tackle and kick consistently well.

As a consistent critic of Tom Wright, can I say this was the best game I have seen him play? His defence was solid and his overall game considering the conditions was very good. Hope it was not a one off but a sign that I was wrong and some of you were right, he might make a decent fullback...

Agree with this Kiwi a solid defender who can pass might be a handy thing to have for this tour.

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

Agree, one of the best halves of football we have put in in the last few years. Lolesio excepted - I feel sorry for him these days but his goal kicking kept us in the game, his field kicking didn't,

There's only one difference, they kept their senior players in the Springboks, we are happy to let ours go and pay shit loads to get them back 3 years later!

Had he played for the Wallabies he would have had his card marked never to play again. Similar to Swinton and Swain - too aggressive for us.

Now is the time for all good men to come to AUS rugby.

Totally agree with this Joe, what we need to do is to hold it together, have a few wins and build a great team.

    Wallabies 2024

Maybe, but I wonder if anyone is talking to him? I always rated him as a great prospect and atm we don't have a capable FB. Of those you mentioned none apart from Campbell are a genuine FB and he's a bit light for internationals. He might be too expensive for Super Rugby and as you say there may not be a...

Big loss Jack Maddocks. What we would give for a top class fullback now.

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

This whole thread proves the bloody difficult job Schmidt has to bring these guys up to a reasonable level. The other complication is that as the guys improve the offers from Europe and Japan (+NRL) will just increase.

We have done plenty of that in the last few years and the results have not been that great. I suspect the problem is Super Rugby and the gap to internationals.

PSDT - Best forward in the world by my (and others') reckoning.
