    Rebels 2018

I can understand that. But perhaps in another thread ...

    Rebels 2018

I completely support the Force being in SuperRugby but not at the expense of the Rebels. WTF do you expect Rebels fans to do? My number 1 goal is to have a rugby team in SuperRugby (or whatever it becomes) that I can go to the home ground and watch. Everything else is secondary. I hope...

    Rebels 2018

I think every state should be embarrassed about the state of rugby in their state. And that goes for WA as well. If WA rugby and the Force were so strong and were seeing significantly higher crowds then I think we would have been in a very different position but they weren't. Seriously -...

Sefa out for the season with a dislocated shoulder.

Might have had to be a bit earlier than that. But if it was prior to Cox's not selling statement then definitely. If afterwards then probably but would have cost more. I think by July, it was probably way too late.

Over the past 3 years, the Rebels have won more games. The Rebels won 7 games in both 2015 and 2016 before falling in a heap. Over the past 7 years, I think there is a difference in wins of 1 or 2 between the two teams

I reckon we will see a much improved Nic this year under a different coach.

    The Wallabies Thread

I think there was a lot more with regards to the team. Remember Higginbotham's comments when O'Connor left the Rebels - it would be better for him to develop his skills and personality at a different club. And in the same interview said that everyone liked Beale and wanted him to stick around...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Remind me how many times the Force got in to the finals in 12 years? ;)

To be honest, I know bugger all about him - but he is chairman of a charity which aims to abolish slavery (estimated 20-30 million people today). That puts him on the good side from my perspective. People have their views without necessarily much fact behind it. For example, I used to think...

You are right on Smith. I should have known that Definitely - 5 franchises help to identify talent. For example, I really doubt that Hodge would be playing for Australia if we had only 4 teams - he would have been waiting a fair bit longer for a start. Hopefully the time until the Force...

That's fair. I just used one of the squad listings and didn't check all of the players individually.

There are 7 players this year from the Rebels who played for the Wallabies who have not played for any other Super Rugby team (Hodge, McMahon, Uelese, Smith, Koroibete, Naivalu). One of those (Uelese) is 20 and developed his rugby in Melbourne. By my count, there are 3 players from the Force...

    Aussie Player Exodus

Given the relatively chummy nature between Twiggy and Clyne recently, I wouldn't be surprised that it already has been arranged and I'd expect the Force back in Super Rugby by 2020 or in whatever the replacement competition is. The whole of the ARU's annual revenue is chump change for Twiggy.

Well not dominating, but it is a common comment that the Force are a strongly performing side over recent times and the Rebels have been a poorly performing side over recent times.

    Aussie Player Exodus

Really, joining Munster would raise his profile? Above playing for the Wallabies in internationals? Munster could really do with a decent lock. Between their 4 current locks they have 1 international cap ... Not saying that he won't go but it wouldn't be to raise his profile.

My point is that the Force isn't this great tournament dominating team that some people seem to be suggesting. They had a mediocre year in a completely shit year for Australian teams. Perhaps it was a rebuilding year and the start of something good or perhaps it would have been like 2014 where...

More recently better performing sides? The Force had a relatively good 2017 winning 6 games out of 15. In 2016, they won 2 games (1 of which was the Sunwolves) and in 2015 they won 3 games. 11 games over the past 3 seasons is not what I would call "recently better performing". For...

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

Surely the key now is for the ARU to have some oversight of the expenses and profitability of the franchises. And if they need to put money in then that oversight should shift to at least partial control.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Well, I would have contributed to Own the Force but I really didn't want to put my own team at any increased risk.
