    Rebels 2018

Very nice move to announce that way. Checked my voicemail messages and there was one from Adam. So rare to be in the position of knowing before it is everywhere on the internet.

    Rebels 2018

The main issue is how will the 3 parts of the team gel. At the moment it is probably a couple of new players (Parling and Genia) and (roughly) 50:50 Force/Rebels. The Genia/Lance combo will be crucial to unleash the backline. Lance is also pretty crucial to the Wallabies as obviously Cooper ran...

    Rebels 2018

Sad if we lose Weeks and Stirzacker. But really, neither are likely to get a lot of game time. Stirzacker will have to lose the captaincy and will be sitting on the bench waiting for Genia to have a 5-10 minute break at the end of the game.

Happy to have Wessels as he seems to have some sort of a clue but really some of the talk about his proved prowess is way way too early. He has 1 year of experience where the Force won 6 matches. For comparison, McGahan won 4 in his first season and 7 in his second and third season.

    Rebels 2018

I had expectations for 2017. We had a relatively good 2015 and 16. Signed Koroibete. Hodge in his second season. And then the pre season games occurred.

    Rebels 2018

Actually, it is very simple. Let's assume that the Rebels are above the long term salary cap of $5 million and they need to reduce in 2020. Firstly, there will be a number of player who are currently "emerging Wallabies" such as Koriobete and Hodge. These players will get increased top ups (and...

    Rebels 2018

Perhaps Rugby Australia should think about a fifth team to ensure that talent develops? I've heard that there is a lot of passion in WA. Maybe a team there would be worth a go. Sigh.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

And Ice Hockey has 8 teams in the AIHL ... The problem is that our teams are in direct competition with the NZ teams who have significantly more depth and have been able to survive the loss of talent overseas much better. There would be similar problems if our A-League teams had to play the...

I'll give you Koroibete but the tahs also have Phipps, Kepu, Simmons, Dempsey and Hanigan who have all started for the Wallabies this year. I'm sure that they are more expensive than Faulkner, Hanson, Philips, Fainga'a and Timani

I still don’t get how the Rebels salary would be any higher than the Waratahs. Surely Hooper, Beale, Foley and Folou would be on much more than Genia, Coleman, Hodge and DHP.

I thought wages for players were fully paid for by the ARU

    Rebels 2018

But the Tah's have Beale, Folau, Hooper and Foley who would have to be the some of the very highest paid players in Australia. They also have Kepu, Simmons, Dempsey, Robertson, Hanigan and Phipps who were all in the 23 for the last game against NZ. Or are rules different for the Waratahs?

Except the proof is completely flawed ... hoping to win more games than this year at least (I have very low expectations)

    Rebels 2018

Well we don't want a 2017 Rebels playing style (or a 2015 or 2016 Force playing style either TBH - pre Wessels obviously). Probably more than a few Rebels ... and with the addition of Parling and Genia. At the moment, I think it would be roughly 6-8 from the 2017 Rebels team, 6-8 from the 2017...

    Rebels 2018

I just wonder if some of them would have done better with a coach who had a different style. Of course, this was the ARU's intent. Reducing the number of SuperRugby players in Australia was always going to result in people having to move on and given the Rebels performance in 2017 and a new...

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

I completely hope you are right with this. This is exactly where I hope that it goes.
