    Wallabies 2024

Agree with this. I heard a comment on the radio about a highly regarded League centre who was injured and he was 23. On this site and others we all jump up and down about they are too young to play top level rugby. I am with you regarding the responsibility of coaches. We need an Aus A to test...

TT I think you highlight a major problem in Aus that I thought would change with Schmidt and that is young talent ID.

    Wallabies 2024

TT any half decent club player would get better if playing regularly at a higher level, it doesn't mean they have the talent or drive to play for the Wallabies. BTW this is a general comment and I don't care who plays 10 ATM I am not a fan of any of them.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Why? and what has the impact been since his appointment...Genuine question.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I do not agree that RA is responsible for this debacle. The Rebels had a bunch of supposedly business capable directors who gave their coaching staff a free run to go on a spending spree when the club was essentially insolvent. The rest of these arguments seem limited to me.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I'd suggest that it is BECAUSE of the BIL and RWC money coming in that they are going for it. Will be interesting but not for RA, other teams and the grass roots.

Totally agree but I have been hearing this ever since Robbie Deans got the bullet. I just did a trip to the UK and speaking to old rugby mates of mine their grass roots aren't booming either. My old club now employs many SA players and they have gone from 5 teams in my day to one team plus 2nds...

    Wallabies 2024

Don't disagree with this BUT we have the Giteau Law and a general lack of interest in turning Australia into another South Africa in terms of Wallabies, which I think is a bit pigheaded but here we are. SA has been smart in terms of the playing structures they play so that OS players can come in...

Any lawyers here who can comment on this?

    Wallabies 2024

Somewhat agree with the thinking but how many games can he play prior to BIL tour? The Wallabies are changing (not as fast as I hoped) and if he ain't there but gets 3 games in this tour and ??? games next year it is a question Schmidt will be pondering and putting to the coaching team. PS I...

    Wallabies 2024

I think he is committed but the reality of club rugby in Europe is a difficult thing that NH teams have to deal with. I agree, if he can't play all games leave him out.

    Wallabies 2024

Can't see that at all. I think it's bizarre of you to be writing Schmidt off in his first year as coach. This Wallaby team have had almost 20 years of an unbroken slide down the ladder.

    Wallabies 2024

Well, I am glad we are shot of the bastard. I knew a couple of guys in Eddie V1 and the stories were not good or harmonious. I think England suited him as they are not like Aussies, they do what they are told. That worked well until what they were being told turned into crap. He had a very...

I'd imagine a few supporters will go along just to have a look at Sua'ali'i.

    Wallabies 2024

Interesting and then he went and put together a team that ignored several players with decent experience levels, ignoring all advice that the RWC requires a good level of experience to have some success. This was just a cash grab on Eddie's part whilst always meaning to go to Japan.

    Wallabies 2024

Just look up Roger Gould's review of his time with Eddie (not the only asst coach to mention this), and you might be surprised. He took little advice from his assistants, combined with his ridiculing and just plain Eddie (ish) my view or the highway nature of the little worm and you will get the...

    Wallabies 2024

Wilson. I normally enjoy your posts but this little gem has to be replied to. Eddie doesn't need any other coaches he knows it all - check the lifetime of England assistant coaches. He did the opposite of what he did with McQueens team, he knew a better team by osmosis and left out our best 13 a...

    Wallabies 2024

We seem to be focused on players who can wear several hats rather than a specialist position. Maybe that has advantages with our injury record. OTOH Larkham got moved from 15 to 10 and might have been a winger before that but I don't remember if he was or not.

    Wallabies 2024

Can someone here give me a clear statement on the difference between 12 and 13 roles? I know 13 is a hard defensive position and has a job of creating opportunities for the wings but apart from that I have no clear ideas.
