I'll throw Harry Webster (7) in from GT as a smokey - I watched him a lot last season and he came on really well for a true 16 year old, IF he keeps improving could have a monster year and I think he is better suited to 7 than McReight who easily fits at 6 or 8

No surprise there, always been a quality player and long identified as a talent - I suspect he will play significant minutes this season.

Looks like 6 is the only position up for grabs in the forwards (maybe the third prop) with two year 12 boys leading the race currently - doesn't look like any 16's will get in the pack at this stage but both locks are in Grade 11

    QLD GPS Rugby 2016

I saw him yesterday and I would take 95kgs with a very big grain of salt - he did look very strong and fit and a bit bigger than I expected. For the record I in no way question his ability I am just not sure there is position for him in the GT side this year he will be a key player next year...

BBC are a quality side that played pretty well that day - GT's back row just dominated the ruck, the12 continually made big meters up the middle with quick recycled ball and 13 scored a great team try while the team tackled themselves to a stand still - their one on one defense was outstanding...

Hardly something out of the ordinary I suspect. Mind you having just bought a new uniform it is no small addition!!!!!!

I always find this statement interesting - what did or could they offer that BBC wouldn't - other than fee relief that BBC hands out like candy at any rate.

Certainly never had the impact on the GPS competition most were expecting and he is reportedly having post school. While injuries had a part to play I reckon you have hit a nail on the head re weight.

Macklin was in his 17 year while Howard is in his 16 year and I think that makes a huge difference and IMO Macklin barely held his own against the better teams. Sure you can play as a smaller prop if you are strong and experienced enough - Howard is young, relatively small(?) and has virtually...

IMO based on his form last year in the 15's White will stay in the back row - was the leading light in the team at 8 - very effective at trucking the ball over the advantage line. I could be very wrong as I haven't seen him since mid last season but I would have thought Howard would be lucky...

Yea I agree - I think Lutvey at 6 and someone like Harry Wilson, Wrigley (??) or even Levi White at 8 is where I think they may end up.

Just wondering if you saw Howard play much last season?? He was injured or didn't play in any of the U15 games I caught. IMO he doesn't appear to have the same physical presence he had as a 13 - 14 year old and it seems he misses a lot of games. Having not seen him play recently it is always...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2016

While I don't entirely disagree I think you are being a little harsh - IMO there are 4 possibly 5 boys who will be key players for their schools this season and I expect most of those will play Qld Schools 1 or 2 As for the U15 side I think a team made up of those that didn't play JGC (+ a...

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

For the record I am fan of said 10 and have long wondered why he has been unable to secure a more regular spot in the 'A' squad. Not that I have noticed but might he lack pace??

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

Must be something in the 10's game very rarely gets a look in his school's top team either!

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

To be fair I think he was specifically referring to the Under 20's taking players out of the clubs not JGC. But yes he absolutely nailed the current state of Rugby in Australia. BAG

After the Roycroft saga at GT and the late recruits at ACGS a few years back I can't even pretend to understand the eligibility rules.

Isik didn't really stand out for me in a pretty disappointing last 4 games for the GT 16A's decimated by Firsts call ups unavailability and injuries. Cant see him unseating Birgin - very highly regarded at GT both on and off the field - needs to up his workrate in the tough stuff at times IMO...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2016

Sorry to confuse Ill attempt to be clearer - I try not to write essays In Howard - he was always one of the bigger boys on the field and gained a great advantage through that - the others have caught up somewhat over the years and he can no longer rely on his size/strength to simply...
