Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

It depends on the team. First cricket team I played for was a joke, with the coaches son doing everything and everyone else just watching. Second cricket team (which felt more successful) engaged everyone and the batting and bowling was relatively liquid depending on form, except for one...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I was watching rugby 360 (or whatever its called) last night where they went through the impact of sevens. I have to say the hoff singing at hong kong and the atmosphere looked really really fun. Essentially, that is what entertainment is all about making sure that punters have a good time...

    Test ticket prices

It isn't a commercially bad idea to put up high prices first see how much you can get from the rusted on fan base. Then bring prices right down closer to the event, to get less rusted on people through the doors. Problem is, it annoys the base.

tbh, mates having fun go for funny grabs all the time. same happened in union games I played, a bit odd in the proffessional scene. As a raiders fan, I thought he was just trying to grub it up to get under his skin, but since hearing that they have been mates since their junior days, who...

I believe the rule you are referring to is as follows:- (d) The tackled player may not play-the-ball before the players effecting the tackle have had time to clear the ruck. Play with foot (e) When the ball touches the ground it must be heeled (i.e. backwards) by the tackled player. The ball...

tbh, I bash refs as much as the next person when I am watching the raiders. But then I watch a neutral match and I think the ref bashing is outragously ridiculous and the fans have ridiculous biased eyes.

You are right to a degree. Sometimes excellent attacking players are poor defensive players and visa versa. Same with Rugby Union as well, see Quade Cooper. Nigel Plum, was/is (not sure if hes still going around) an absolute beast in defence. In all games, NFL, Union, League , bball you are...

I agree, I wrote a thread on lu regarding Hull just rolling the ball in the super league. It is ridiculous, it gains a massive unfair advantage, two pet peeves of mine is not playing the ball on the mark and now the touch footy rolly ball.

also stuart and lewis, played both league and union growing up getting best of both worlds. I don't think anyone would argue against the advantages a kid could get from playing different types of games with similar skills, even touch footy is great for catching /passing / fitness skills.

imo the hugging decreased a lot last year as you werent allowed to peel 1 off 2 off then 3 off when getting off the tackled player so there was no advantage for putting so many in the tackle. With the limited interchange moving to 8, the hugging will decrease even further.

the generalisation is from the game play. Rugby league players do not spend any time contesting possession ... 100% of their time is either attack (run , pass etc) or defence (tackle). Where as union depending on the game will spend a portion of time on possession. Thus they have to have...

In my very biased opinion. Ball players League Players will tend to be better short passes of the ball, in terms of long passing they both have similar skill sets in terms of long balls, although, league players tend to rifle it out to the winger to give him a choice to stay outside or step...

    Rugby TV Ratings 2016

Different sports, different issues. 150k was a good result for the waratahs, that said I tuned in for about ten minutes before giving up on it.

He was a backrower playing in the centres of course he is going to have to work on his passing / kicking... Same would be said for a union backrower coming to play in the centres in league.

I tend to agree with you. Although, I think there is a lot more people who dont like particular sports then like them (regardless of code) thus whenever something like this happens the horde of people who dont like that particular code read and get there jollies of that there position against...

    Social Media Rankings

Its true that its not a fair comparison storm v rebels due to the huge disparity in success. But the bandwagon effect happens to all codes, whether it be AFL NRL or Super Rugby. Oddly enough, I most engage on Linkedin, and I see a a far healthier representation of Super Rugby fans then what is shown by the...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

To be fair though, it is far easier to take the family to a game of cricket in the summer then it is to take the kids to the footy in the winter. League / AFL / Union need their parochialism otherwise no one will show up given that its cold and shitty and you could just watch on tv.
