some interesting head stomping news going around today. Goes to show that there are bad eggs in every sport.

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

I watched a good chunk of the tahs v brumbies as the footy was called off. I would imagine their were quite a few like me searching for some decent sport to watch with the aus nz test off.

    Big change to eligibility rules

I agree with this. Also with players more and more just taking the best money on the table and the wallabies being unions best product it was really the only option for the ARU

    The Pulverisation of Australian Rugby

who to be fair hasn't done a terrible job.

    The Pulverisation of Australian Rugby

someone must have the power to change rules in rugby. Problem is that power is probably in the motherland. Where the only chance those blokes have of winning anything is dull boring penalty fest ridden crap shoots. Funny that Southern Hemisphere nations (NZ in particular) still smash them on a...

From my perspective union balls have always been fatter and rounder and league long and skinny. IMO union balls are easier to play long then league balls and are easier to put in a decent kick if not perfect. But really it is much of a muchness with both balls.

I don't think choosing to go for a try should be discouraged. I think most smart teams unless they are down by a fair bit will go for the 2 based on the score board, if it gives them a better multiple of six... ie if they are 5 or 6 FTR I was under the impression that union goal kickers tended...

You are agreeing with me.. The less physical aggressive sports have more older people running around. Ie social flag and touch. Same in Australia big fella. Rugby union despite significantly less juniors probably has more seniors running around, atleast in the non rural areas then league...

    The League Media

You could hazard a guess that 80% of Australians and 99% of the world don't know anything about either type of rugby. IMO both codes should be looking to be go after that 80% by presenting themselves as an inclusive family, whichever type of rugby/footy people enjoy that's up to them and...

dogs won a gf of a 7 tackle set back in the day. 7 tackles if you gain possession off an opposition knock on, to encourage the defending team to dive on it as opposed to just taking the scrum option. the argument was that it was a knock back not a knock on, to which it probably was a knock back.

    Refereeing decisions

but what does play the ball mean in rule 15.6d I liked the innovation from the chiefs. If you are standing in the passing lane making no attempt to pick up or go at the ball at the bottom of the tackle, I think it is fine. To be honest the referee even admits as much himself when he says you...

I know what you are saying Wamberal but I think that goes to the nature of the game itself. I don't imagine there are many people playing nfl for fun as adults compared to their junior numbers, just due to the brutality of the game. Going for a run for the Asquith Magpies I imagine would...

I don't think belittling individuals because of where you believe they sit on the societal slippery slope is really a good look. Nor do I believe that any sport has a monopoly on fans from certain demographics.

CFO counts the numbers but doesn't make it rain. If the guy is making it rain then he is good for rugby, he might just need a rugby community type person in their and to have that you need??? Rain.

    The League Media

that's my point you guys think rugby league is your enemy. Its the closest relative you have, its like netball blaming basketball for not being as successful as it once was. Fair dinkum ask around your friendship groups, rugby union people or people who fit the union demographic aren't all...

    The League Media

They are all part of the same family. Shitting in any form of rugby whether it be 9s 7s union league or touch, whilst proclaiming the greatness of afl comparatively you are just shooting the rugby family in the footy.

    The League Media

I agree with you, both codes would benefit massively. However, the biggest loser would be all the admin people where there are two jobs and now there is only one. Also, I don't think the Northern Hemisphere RU (which I have the impression has more power then SANZAR) would change there game...

Fairfax is hardly the rugby league media. I have said it before and I will say it again, in Australia Rugby Union's biggest threat from a professional code point of view is AFL. From a playing the game / junior perspective the biggest threat is soccer. Rugby League is in the exact same boat.

Homophobic remark in Tahs Brumbies game

My own view is that is an atrocity. And just because a government commits an atrocity doesn't justify a sympathising position.
