    Waratahs 2015

Obviously my view is both personal and anecdotal. But I am at last talking about real, actual people who have been paying to be members for years and in some cases decades. Where are all these rugby-mad western suburbs folk who just can't wait for more games at ANZ? They haven't been at the...

    Payten calls for Golden Point

Why would you assume that no one in Australia can have a connection to the UK or North America?

    Waratahs 2015

I'm sure that moving to Homebush would grab a few new members, but it would be a catastrophe with existing members. Almost every member I know personally (only 20 or so, but from almost every age group possible) would not keep their membership. When this came up among our group (7 seats, all...

    New Zealand v Australia - Auckland - 23 August 2014

    I miss those days. ;)

    Payten calls for Golden Point

Btw, everyone knows that journos get assigned stories to write, yeah? While Payten is obviously taking a stance here, it's not like he's necessarily a zealot for the Golden Payten.

    Payten calls for Golden Point

The NFL has an interesting approach for overtime in the regular season,* where a draw is still possible but 'modified sudden death' applies. Basically, if you receive the ball on a kick off and score a touchdown, you win. If you only kick a field goal, then the team that kicked off receives the...

    New Zealand v Australia - Auckland - 23 August 2014

Lucky Kurtley is around to soak up all the mouth-frothing. Don't know what we'd do otherwise, what with Quade injured, JOC (James O'Connor) overseas and Horne playing well.

Australia v New Zealand - Sydney 16 Aug

    This is an excellent point.

Wait, are you saying they weren't and he wasn't? Crazy talk.

Australia v New Zealand - Sydney 16 Aug

Yup. Higgers is one of the most frustrating players in Australia, IMO.

Fardy isn't going to be around forever and could decline quite quickly, given his age. Higgers is 3 years younger, so he'll likely be in the mix for some time to come. Certainly I think he has the talent to hold the 6 jersey for some time to come.

Australia v New Zealand - Sydney 16 Aug

That's some rancid bait you've got there, Sully.

Australia v New Zealand - Sydney 16 Aug

Just on AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and his attention to detail: whenever his side lines up for a penalty kick, he ALWAYS chases the ball hard towards the posts in case there is a rebound. Often, he's the only one; always, he's first and fastest off the line. IIIRC, he has scored two tries for the Waratahs like that in...

Waratahs vs Crusaders 2014 Super Rugby Grand Final

Totally agree. But I hope the people paid to market the Waratahs (presumably also part of Tahland) are giving a pretty serious fuck about keeping the team in the public eye over the next few months. And that's all I have any interest in saying on the matter.

Australia v New Zealand - Sydney 16 Aug

I've said a number of times before that I think Benn Robinson is out under Link, at least for the foreseeable future. That Weekes was called into the squad after Fat Cat had a strong run home scrummaging confirms that, IMO. Link must have some very good reasons for preferring every other...

Waratahs vs Crusaders 2014 Super Rugby Grand Final

Spend isn't the issue on the marketing front, it's concept, execution and placement. Most of the marketing is boring as batshit and they overlook easy opportunities like getting players onto the GAGR podcast. Now is the time to revitalize the marketing of the team. Gotta make the most of an...

Waratahs vs Crusaders 2014 Super Rugby Grand Final

While the Tahs do like to spread it wide, their success this season has been built on early aggression in tight. They tend not to commit many to the breakdown, but Palu, TPN and JacPot all do an excellent job driving the ball forward in close quarters. That's what provides the foundation for width.

Waratahs v Highlanders Sun 6th July @ the SFS

I don't think @pfitzy makes quick trips into anywhere that sells grog.

Fuck that, barbs, you better go sacrifice a live animal.
