What would you rather have 23 lineouts at 87% or 9 lineouts at 100%? Strikes me they had double the amount of lineout ball to us and often in our half. due to the pressure to clear the ball.

I noticed that BR and a couple of times I thought it would be called not straight. Strange ref but good game.

Just a thought when we play 'just enough' the 'poor' opp run up a sizable score against us.

That would assume he would take the ball from the lineout or the 9 which I have never seen him do. He gets it 2nd or 3rd hand and takes it up. Still think his lineout ability is an OK/Surprise asset we have not used.

Slim Valetini seems to me to perform fine for a 2nd option jumper, wonder why we don't use him more?

Not sure about that Phitzy, Ireland didn't strike me as a team that was hanging back at all. Not sure about the boks as only look at highlights.

Could've been but never saw 'a lot' but we didn't compete in the middle to back of lineout anyway. The stats of this game will be very interesting as it was so one sided everywhere except on the scoreboard.

Combo John, I have always been concerned about Gordon taking his time at the back and was surprised with McDermott as I thought he would speed the game up. Laying in the ruck slowing down ball has always been a penalty but if you don't play to the ref or appeal to him then you deserve what you get.

There was a post yesterday suggesting that Lolesio has a poor kicking style for general play kicking. Something about round kicking v straight kicking. Agree that the 9's were under pressure due to the delay in getting the ball back.

I thought our lineout was average and our mauling poor without Skelton. I thought without Skelton we would be using our lineout as a weapon against Ireland but we just let them have their ball, was this a game plan to not compete? Seemed like it to me.

I thought it was odd that we didn't compete in the lineout at all in the first half. A couple in the 2nd half.

Good point. It strikes me as a basic skill every 10 should have. I can't think of another kicker we have played in this series who didn't use the drop punt for line out kicks.

Very true Phil but we need a pack going forward with a fast clean out at BD giving the kicker time to make ground or open them up.

We need to feed our wings better and that starts with the forwards effort.

I guess the question is TSR, do we go looking or make the most of what we have? Time maybe against us but the game goes on beyond the BIL.

I suppose his interplay was not seen by you? The coach kept him on the field for a long time if all he did was catch and pass. Go and have another look. We would be over the moon to have a player like him at 10.

I think he doesn't have much confidence in his out of hand kicking and prefers a conservative gain. Compare his line kicking to Prenderghasts.

TSR, have to disagree. Our structure of the D leaves too many doors ajar. We tackled really agressively all game and that takes a lot out of the tank and the boys did plenty. Add onto the poor defensive system the poor BD attendance compared to Ireland it was a game where the number of lost...
