A Proposal For A New Third Tier Competition In Australia

That's one way of doing it. Creating an environment around the game that would be appealing to students is what would be needed. It actually offers the Uni's several opportunities for students not involved in the program such as sports science, marketing majors and such.

A Proposal For A New Third Tier Competition In Australia

I'd argue that they fail to market the team to the student population of the Uni as do others. For this to work it will require intensive internal marketing to garner support. I think with some effort you could capture a percentage of the student population who will get behind a program. It's...

A Proposal For A New Third Tier Competition In Australia

This makes so much sense its not remotely funny. Something that has been desperately needed for a long-long time. Hopefully it comes to fruition. As for the NSW based Uni's. I'd suggest the University of Wollongong. Has the facilities and the inclination to fund such a program. Heavily...

    Western Force 2013

Expectation is probably the biggest hurdle for player's to overcome. However, I think CTM has the potential to be a good find so to speak. He's partial to the physical stuff you want from a 12 which will set him in good stead.

    2016 Super Rugby Expansion

They would be better served working on getting Rugby on ESPN at a reasonable time slot for a while before looking down this route.

    Reds 2013

I meant next season. I made a mistake, so shoot me. Everyone else seems to have got what I was saying.

    Reds 2013

Yeah, I think Kiap thinking 2014 and I'm talking about the up coming season.

    Reds 2013

I'm not getting into this with you. The Lions have already resigned themselves and confirmed their tours for next season. The SARU have confirmed the Kings. What else is there to say?

    Reds 2013

They're no chance. Now let's get back on topic and the Reds.

    Reds 2013

That should be how it ideally would go but it isn't necessarily how it will end up. The point of the Kings was to introduce more black and coloured players to Super Rugby. The SARU would likely have it in their long terms interests to try and keep the Kings in Super Rugby long term under any means necessary.

    Reds 2013

No by the SARU and SANZAR. Confirmed it months back now forcing the the Lions to look for alternative competitive options and tours which they confirmed only a couple of months backs.

    Reds 2013

The Kings will be playing in Super Rugby next year in place of the Lions. That is guaranteed. I suspect the playoff thing won't be too big of an issue in the future as I think the SARU find themselves in over this issue will lead to preemptive calls from groups from within to push through another...

    Sydney Subbies 2013

Isn't it? Makes me wonder what Division 1 must be like. Certainly made me re-think my choice of clubs when I move back up to the Camden area in a month or so.

Removal of the Scrum Engage Hit is coming

This is for schools and U19s. There is still a 'hit' just not to the same extremes. The contest continues which is the point of the scrum. It will come down to the collective power and technique of the scrum to compete. It's how it should be, I have no problem with these initiatives as I...

    Reds spy???

    Shute Shield 2013

That's actually an interesting concept. And the the must be asked, would a NSW Cup like post club season championship at the very least in the interim be the solution. At the end of each season 6 representative teams play on a home and away schedule. The six are pretty simple with Sydney...

    Shute Shield 2013

Who's the author of the piece? As I believe he has his perspectives a little askew in what exactly the life blood of Australian Rugby truly is. They're right regarding the Wallabies, while they are the public face, they are not the the game's true life's blood. However, they are off the mark...

    Shute Shield 2013

Yeah, it would be an issue. What it would need is club backing. Not necessarily in terms of financing but in support. Clubs encouraging fans and members to back such a concept which will as history illustrates be very, very difficult to achieve. I know from experience many clubs wish to go it...

    Shute Shield 2013

This concept sort of makes sense in that it doesn't require excessive financing to get up and running and keeps travel to a relative minimum. As for a sixth team, in terms of competition I'd say a Hunter team would be the preferred setup. However, a combined Southern/Illawarra set up could work...

Who should be the next ARU CEO?

    Hunter would be my choice.
