    G&GR Fantasy Rugby Competition 2012

Bit concerned with my team being a bit Reds biased, but I was looking forward to their juicy clashes in rounds 2 (Force) and 3 (Rebels). I have Slipper, Horwill, Harris and Ioane. Thinking of ditching Slipper or Horwill, probably Horwill, as I suspect that the change in points for front...

    Waratahs 2012

You'd think that Richard Stanford would probably be the lock they'd look to next (as a short term replacement), if another goes down injured.

Er, just to clarify: did Mowen really captain the Reds with the 1 cap he got there? I am...somewhat dubious of that statement.

    Rebels 2012

Oh, and their defensive alignment was too slow to reset. Was hard to tell if it was because they gave the Blues too much quick, clean ruck ball or it they didn't adjust quick enough. The two things I mentioned (plus the few missed tackles) should be sorted out by a good defensive coach, given...

    Waratahs 2012

Also, after Quade broke the line Beale fell off a weak attempted tackle as well. It wasn't entirely Cross. But yeah, have to agree about the Shute Shield final - Cutch was easily my pick of the forwards on the park that day. I am unsure about the VC though; I think that should go to someone...

    Rebels 2012

Yeah, the Rebels showed some nice counter attack and attack, but to me their biggest problem was uneven line speed - quite a few problems caused by the outside guys rushing up too fast.

Chabal to play Subbies Rugby in Australia !

http://www.rabbitohs.com/warren/archive/index.php/t-860.html?s=197fd1e54dcdecec4ea9685eb8483ef6 Apparently the Rabbitohs tried to lure Chabal in 2008. I think it's unlikely that any NRL would risk big dollars for an older unknown now. My bet is on the Rebels, but can't rule out the Brumbies...

Chabal to play Subbies Rugby in Australia !

The replies to the article seem to think it's the Rabbitohs. Don't get why the NRL would pay top dollar for a French union player who is rather old - makes no sense. Especially as surely the Rabbitohs are near the cap with the amount of stars they have anyway. Is Chabal coming for the 2012...

    Waratahs 2012

I always thought of Trist (in my limited viewings of him) as more of a fullback than a winger, myself. Hence, I would have thought that Trist would be fullback cover from the EPS. Thought Hangers would've gotten more of a mention for a fullback as well. He might not be the most dynamic...

    Injury help/advice

Best of luck mate, and probably the right decision, albeit a sad one. I also had spinal surgery this edit: last year (although a more minor operation) and am also looking at not playing again (but probably mainly due to the combination of age), despite wanting to play one more year. I thought...

I think 12 might end up being Lealiifano's best position. With that combo you'd want a strong runner at 13, though, to play off their distribution game and add some bulk to the inside backs. Who's the favourite? McCabe? Then Tomane and Andrew Smith? Did Tomane get a shot at centre in the...

Dearest Clawhammer, My apologies for a brief digression that was continuing a previous brief digression, I didn't realise it was not allowed on this forum. Next time I will run it by you, seeing as you obviously set the forum rules. In fact, I will ask to you to personally vet all my posts...

    Waratahs 2012

I'd expect to see AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) at 13 a bit this year, as I my faith in Rob Horne remaining fully fit the entire season is sadly low. The loss of Beale is probably the biggest hole for the Tahs - he was a real spark from the back and created a lot of plays. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is a strong and robust player, but don't...

Er, if you are going to say that about Australia's oldest uni (especially using "old as a criticism for a uni, or particular for anything, really - what a load of rubbish), I suggest you have some proof - especially going on your past comment that "ANU is bigger", when it has 1/3 the students of...

    Brumbies 2012

Brief digression to the University rankings - I always found it interesting that ANU managed to do so well with their research to be well ranked internationally. I do think it's good for the nation's capital to have an internationally renowned university, and am impressed they managed to become...

Reds vs Waratahs - the war before the war

The <insert team you support here> are definitely the underdogs. How could they be otherwise?
  19. Ash

    Brumbies 2012

Actually, the ANU is much smaller than Sydney Uni in terms of students - the ANU has around 1/3 of the under grads of Syd Uni, and about 1/2 of the post grads of Syd Uni. ANU is more attractive for a lot of post grads - it is the most recognised uni for academic research in Aus (but the gap to...
