    G&GR Fantasy Rugby Competition 2012

Yeah, Lam vs Vito was a toss up for me. Vito will run more and break more tackles, but Lam will be a lot more involved. Lam isn't a fetcher, though, but he'll be everywhere. Habana may be worth a punt, too - he will likely be at 13, and could get some nice points against the Canes.

    G&GR Fantasy Rugby Competition 2012

Thanks for the SA insight nevermachine. Axed Dagg for Lambie. Axed Thomson for Vito. Price differential looked worth it. Hope I don't regret it! I might reverse this one tomorrow, on whim, though. Brought Strauss onto my bench at hooker. I have massive cash flow problems, with just...

    Brumbies V Force Round 1 - 2012R01

mudskipper, there's just so much wrong with your post above. Having a massive pack to soften up the opposition is a failed tactic - we saw this last year with the Reds. McKenzie even admitted his mistake afterwards and accepted the blame. The problem is, the Brumbies have effectively replaced...

    Blues v Crusaders Round 1 (2012)

Well, to be fair, Brett looked a hell of a lot better at the 'Saders than he did at the Blues. The Crusaders seem to put better structures in place that seem make individuals fit very well, like simply replacing a cog in a well oiled machine. The Blues haven't looked nearly as coherent a team...

    Blues v Crusaders Round 1 (2012)

Faumuina? Yeah, he's still there and will be at tight head I guess. Woodcock is out injured for a while (no shock there), so I guess McCartney will replace him. I'd pick the Blues on that backline, assuming all else remains equal. Which it just may. Even with their injuries, check this...

    Brumbies 2012

Yup, also a fantatic effort from Pocock. It's also for clean pilfers at the ruck as well I think, so forced penalties by the player holding on on the ground are not included.

Tangawizi; not sure, is the short answer. Last year they showed most rugby games live (that's from word of mouth - a friend had it). I have no idea how they will go with it this year. Check before you consider it....or read below, as I just spent 10 minutes looking at the first week...

    G&GR Fantasy Rugby Competition 2012

Will Piri come on to 9 or 10 from the bench though? With Munro out I would guess that Hobbs would kick, meaning he will probably be a start in my fanstay team then. Maybe at the expense of Harris, or maybe even Doppies. Who knows. 9. Mathewson 10. Hobbs 11. Wulf/Ranger 12. Stanley 13...

    Brumbies 2012

And this is the issue for me, if the Brumbies go 6. Kimlin, 7. Vaea, 8. Mowen, it will be an absolute disaster at ruck time for them, especially up against Pocock, Hodgson and McCalman. Let's take last year as an example. The Reds against the Force and Tahs in the first two rounds played 6...

Oh, and who will be the Blues kicker? Hobbs or Munro? If it's Hobbs, he's almost too good to ignore at 75k.

    G&GR Fantasy Rugby Competition 2012

Agree completely on Hobbs. I also thought Hobbs was woefully mispriced at 75k, as he is a real chance to be a starter in a star studded Blues backline. Hobbs is on the bench for me, but I am contemplating moving him into the starting line up and buying, say, Bateman for the bench, freeing up a...

I guess I forgot Jane on the wing for the Canes, who is quality. A lot of the rest of the team are still nose pickers, though.

Contemplating buying a few Stormers, too. Had a look at NZ sides, and frankly, the Canes look awful (loosies and midfield aside) and are already injury riddled. Probably the worst NZ side on paper I've seen in ages, and geez, the Clan looked weak a few years back. Really, picking the kicker...

The Matt Rogers syndrome. For someone with loads of acceleartion, Matt Rogers seemed to have had a surprisingly low top speed.

    Waratahs vs Reds - Round 1 - 2012R01

Welcome Scoey. Agree about being nervous, and hoping for no more injuries from either team. I'm a bit concerned by the injuries from both sides - both teams will be down key players. For the Reds, from the first teamers: Cooper is gone, Davies is gone, S. Finger is gone, and Higgers will be...

    Waratahs vs Reds - Round 1 - 2012R01

Er, it's a prediction, not what happened last year. Good to see that reading comprehension is just as bad on both sides of the border! :P

Others I am thinking of are Brussuow or Smit for perhaps Minnie or Thomson.

    Waratahs 2012

Sadly, Turner would've been the back up goal kicker normally I'd guess. Any other of the Tah players ever kick for their club side?

2012 Super Rugby Finals top 6 predictions

Bit nervous about the Tahs at this stage: down Turner and Vickerman already, and Mitchell and Elsom may now not be back for a while, whilst Barnes is already struggling. To come one or two I think you need better luck with injuries than the Tahs are already having.
