I have been thinking about "Higgers" work on the weekend He may have looked worse because of the game plan not working successfully in the first half. We seemed to have Fardy & Higgers posted as wide support right and left; much wider that we usually play (sweeping generalisation but bare...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

At lineouts Foley defended where Gits was on Saturday (with Hooper defending at 10), off scrums he defends at 10, Horne covered Beale

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Possibly the break has freshened him up, but I expect Tomane to take Horne's spot. The key question is then who defends for Cooper?

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

I don't see Pocock or Hooper solving our breakdown issues, that is a team issue that will only be solved by accurate, aggressive cleanouts on attack and dominant tackling on defence Typos by SwiftKey, errors in tone by me

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

If hooper is replaced by pocock, is it a direct swap in defensive duties? Hooper's work defending at 10 off lineout was immense Also I don't know if there is an actual correlation, but the Boks didn't do much mauling until Skelton was replaced The Argie's most potent weapon was the maul on...

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

Best? not sure, he did show the benefits of playing flat and square. Cooper was playing too deep in his time and things were being done way too far behind the advantage line too often; and Gits ended up too sideways for a while

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

Phipps was bloody good and bloody quick at moving the ball away and into the next phase. So quick that at times he lacked an option ready to receive it The ball being left exposed? That was one of the many pieces of detail lacking in the Wobs last night, the forwards ball presentation needs...

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

I think Horne and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) are actually good wingers, with Cooper playing, Horne is a must, he will defend in the 10/12 channel with Cooper dropping into a 2nd 15 role. Pocock vs Hooper? I don't know, it has all been said, but I don't expect up to attack the ball at the breakdown, I expect us to...

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

Looks like a side planning to attack to me - playing positive ball in hand rugby. Really what more do we want? We ain't going to win against the big boys playing safe

Phipps's passing has been excellent most of the year, in front and fast. (Every 9 has a couple of sub standard passes a game) But it did drop in standard markedly from about when he was hurt against the Reds, he should have been replaced far sooner than he was.

Add in working their arses off to be options for that next phase ie working hard off the ball to give Genia, Cooper & Gits multiple options to hit, every phase

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

It is going to be interesting to see how much shape Cheika has got into this side, the best Aus sides were always very structured (when the Tahs under Cheika worked, it was very well organised (two forward pods of 3 etc. for the 9 to pick from and also the 10 in a second wave)) We may want to...

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

It may have been overstated, but neither would describe their core skill as ball running, and the Brumbies were not exactly a team known for running the ball this year. Which is a shame, when they did they looked quite good
