Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

What have juniour player numbers done in the 2 years since the fee was introduced?

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

While the ARU and SANZAR think about the future there's some scary news (for them) coming out of the US Hopefully somebody is those offices is doing some risk plannning on a scenario where payTV isn't able to keep on paying more and more every 5 years.

The Awful Truth About The ARU's Financial Position

That's what I mean - surely revenue will be about as low as it ever will be this year - and they are still making a profit Only way is up. If they can keep a lid on expenses it's actually really promising for the Reds and the QRU

EOYT 2016 - Possibles, probables and general banter

First game against Wales is outside of the window too isn't it?

    The Wallabies Thread

This isn't a particularly unusual year through - last year was the strange one. Since 2005 there's been 7 years with more than 10 debutants Or to put it another way - we've had 127 Wallabies in the last 10 years. There's going to be 10+ new players just about every year Edit - worth adding...

The Awful Truth About The ARU's Financial Position

Jeese - given the ticket and membership sales this year and the big loss last year, the annual report should make for interesting reading. If they ever have a successful season the accounts will look pretty good!

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

Fifita isn't really embattled too much though, he still has two years on his Cronulla contract to play out. And he just won a premiership there. He's just throwing his toys out after not getting selected for the Kangaroos. So unless you could match what he's currently on, he's probably going...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

What's the go with these scholarships? Lots of reports on Kaylen Ponga (as an example) say he was on a Brisbane Broncos scholarship when attending Churchie. Are league teams paying for the education of these kids? And if so is your proposal realistic? They are going to have some pretty strong...

    Reds 2017

Signed a two year deal last time until end of 2017, but agree, he would want to have a "contract" year next season

New Zealand v Wallabies, Eden Park, Sat 22nd October

Are Stade Francais just paying him match fees or something?

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Absolutely Braveheart. The famous 1973 Barbarians v New Zealand match is up on YouTube. Some claim it's the greatest rugby match of all time. If you haven't ever seen it it's worth having a look. It's virtually another sport all together

    Australian Rugby / RA

HIggers signing is great news for us Reds fans but it does make me wonder about what future there is for rugby in this country. If the Force and Rebels can't get any big name signings, while at the same time over a couple of years the Reds can sign Douglas, QC (Quade Cooper), Higgers, George Smith, Moore...

    Reds 2017

Its great news - but am I the only one wondering how they can keep signing (and re-signing) all of these internationals, and stay under the salary cap? There must be some big paycuts, creative ARU topups or a lot of promises about future gigs at the QRU going on.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

The other option might be to get rid of place kicking all together. Go the Sevens option of drop kicks only

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Should do the reverse then - make penalty goals worth more, so that teams aren't happy to give away infringements from kickable distances and would rather allow the try

    The Wallabies Thread

Mumm v Fardy Disclaimer on this one - Mumm has started and played much more than Fardy and the locks above. Think the key stat might be the last one too!

    The Wallabies Thread

A look at our locks from TRC. Numbers aren't quite complete as Skelton and Mumm spent some time in the second row as well. With thanks to vodacom Rugby and ForceFan for the data

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I can defiantly see the benefits but are we rescheduling the tests against NH teams to somewhere else in the calendar? The England matches had 120,000 spectators and well over 2m viewers. There's several million downsides to Oz Rugby to consider there.....

    Rugby TV Ratings 2016

Bathurst dominated the top 20 on Sunday with lots of different shows so we may not get a rating for the Argentinian test Match. Was less than 48k on Fox (the rating for Sa v Aus cricket match)
