    NRC onwards and upwards

The NRC is not even three seasons old. Things take time to build. The 11,500 at the Shute Shield GF was great. But how many of those will be back at Nth Sydney Oval next season? How many did they draw throughout the season? Want an answer. A lot less than were at the Rays game this afternoon...
  2. WorkingClassRugger

    NRC onwards and upwards

All the games had solid intensity.

    NRC onwards and upwards

The only real difference is the scoring. Also, are you seriously suggesting a limited club championship which is both lesser standard in pace (which pushes the need to execute under higher pressure situations) and physical intensity would be a better solution?

    NRC onwards and upwards

Yep. But still most of the contact in the games I saw were very physical. There were plenty of really rattling hits in pretty much every game. Hopefully the teams have managed to sort out their cohesion issues this week. I was frustrated at the general handling of the first two games but today's...

    NRC onwards and upwards

You're kidding right? I've watched 3 and half NRC games this weekend and I can tell you the intensity was a significant jump up from club rugby. Some of the skills were off and that can be somewhat attributed to first game ironing out and combination development. But the overall pace and...

    NRC onwards and upwards

A club championship is far too narrow. The strength of the NRC is the presence of all the best available talent condensed into the 8 sides.

The crowds at both the Spirit/Rising and Rays/Rams were good. The Spirit especially considering they kicked off at 11:00am in the morning. The Eagles/City game was disappointing as was the QldC/Vikings. What is interesting for the Eagles is last year they drew a really good turnout at Woollahra...

NRC Rnd 1: NSW Country v Brisbane City

I actually thought Houston was kept relatively quiet for most of the game. I agree about Tui. You could see that his intent was to try and dish up some of the same treatment the Eagles were dishing out in the contact. He just went about it the wrong way on a few occasions as opposed to the...

NRC Rnd 1: QLD Country v Canberra Vikings

I actually missed the 2nd half. Couod someone provide me with the score and a bit of an overview.

NRC Rnd 1: Sydney Rays v Western Sydney Rams

Overall I think if the Rays can get their patterns locked in going from the games I've seen so far they should be very competitive. They appear to be looking to play a very similar style and tempo (potentially a little quicker) to that of Northern Suburbs. What they need to avoid is allowing the...

NRC Rnd 1: QLD Country v Canberra Vikings

Qld Country stabilise a little but Vikings very comfortably going about their business at the moment. Country lacking any dynamism with ball in hand. If they don't find some it could be a very tough campaign. In the Jooste v Mason battle. Jooste is comfortably ahead. Straightens up the Vikings...

NRC Rnd 1: QLD Country v Canberra Vikings

Getting very ugly very quickly for Qld Country.

NRC Rnd 1: Sydney Rays v Western Sydney Rams

Sorry. I meant it was via their on demand service. The final score was 50-30 to the Rays. It was actually a much closer game than the score suggests. Fitness got the better of the Rams in the last 10 but they dominated large parts of the game.

NRC Rnd 1: QLD Country v Canberra Vikings

Seventeen minutes into this game and I'm still trying to figure out why the QRU let Greene go for Mason. Mason is at best average.

NRC Rnd 1: Sydney Rays v Western Sydney Rams

It's on Foxsports. Same as last year.
  16. WorkingClassRugger

NRC Rnd 1: Sydney Rays v Western Sydney Rams

Also, good crowd in attendance. The Rays seem to be doing the community outreach thing similar to the Rams. Hopefully the Eagles are taking notes.

NRC Rnd 1: Sydney Rays v Western Sydney Rams

Rays looking fairly good. Not quite executing yet. Going a little too wide too soon and getting trapped. Need to have the likes of Wildman and Simone straighten it up a bit but have already shown more skill than any other team. Mistakes coming more from players adjusting to the Cron tempo of...

NRC Rnd 1: NSW Country v Brisbane City

Rugby is the worst marketed and promoted sport in the country. Truly terrible.

NRC Rnd 1: NSW Country v Brisbane City

I honestly think every player should be sent to play touch in the off season. Learn how to actually handle the damn ball.
