NRC Rnd 1: QLD Country v Canberra Vikings

I haven't only seen one performance. I watched both the trials leading into the JWC and all the Aus games at the JWC. He has yet to change my mind and according to yesterday's effort I doubt this year NRC campaign will likely change that.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

If I had the cash to invest it would have me looking to do so as an independent concern.

    NRC onwards and upwards

The only way I can still any sort of national club competition evolve is if something like the Shute Shield looks to involve representative squads from other regions. However, to do this it would require a degree of rationalization which is very unlikely.

    NRC onwards and upwards

And you don't think that will happen in your theoretical competition? Players now move and align with clubs in their new franchises catchment. All we will see in your model is players with pro contracts being loaned to whichever club qualifies at the expense of others.

Sydney Rays .. NRC Team Official Thread

    Haha.........that's actually a possibility.

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

According to a brief Q&A via their fb page tickets to Rams games will be $20 for adults while kids under 16 are free and if I read it correctly so are kids in High School providing they show their School ID. Not too bad.

Sydney Rays .. NRC Team Official Thread

Wonder why they went with the alternate? I would have preferred their regular one.

NRC Rnd 1: QLD Country v Canberra Vikings

If true then that's a little sad. I understand that he's young and is likely trying his best but at present he looks clueless doing anything other than shoveling it on. A 10, particularly a good one, needs to create as well as distribute. Often doing one willing executing the other. Unless...

    Waratahs 2017

Of the two Rams wings I thought Goodall was comfortably the better of the two. Lolohea had several strong carries and powered over his Rays counterparts in the scrum. I was actually impressed with his workrate considering he is such a big man.

Qld Country - official NRC thread

When I mentioned QldC lacked dynamism I was referring to the 10 jersey first and foremost. They actually do have a number of dynamic backs. But they need to be given he the time and space to actually utilise their abilities. The best 10s are more than merely distributprs shoveling it off. They...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

If you were to go down the path of using the district clubs I would also look at regions of the city that area under served and look to either identify a club or establish one with the intent of eventually elevating them to the Shute Shield. For example, looking at the Macarthur region of...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Absolutely. Part of my thinking on having clubs work on developing player numbers and clubs within their catchment is to largely overcome issues such as travel and player drain. More clubs within an area means less need to travel greater distances for games. More players means the drain is...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

The alternative is to do away with the traditional junior structures and divide Sydney into more regional zones akin to how the country zones work .i.e. Northern Beaches, North Sydney etc. and look to at developing X number of clubs in each zone alongside a corresponding number of players.

    NRC onwards and upwards

I think he's suggesting a national club competition run in the same window as the NRC. Which in theory sounds fine but the realities are it is far too narrow unless there are provisions for clubs to be able to bring in talent from other clubs. Which then brings into question the fairness to the...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I'm talking about funds directly distributed for the express purpose of developing these structures. It wouldn't come out of the respective clubs current or future budgets and success and failure won't determine the clubs survival. Quite frankly I don't care in Many Warringah JRL doesn't have...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

I want to make it clear. I am an avid fab of club rugby. I have been tuning into the Saturday SS game for as long as I can remember. I thoroughly enjoy it. I absolutely understand the club allegiance side of the spectrum. My issues relate more to the narrow view some Papworth, Dwyer and Co. Take...

    NRC onwards and upwards

Even if SANZAAR were to go tits up I still cannot see club rugby filling the gap. We'd likely sort something out with the Kiwi's or look to really back the NRC by expanding its season. Though, I seriously doubt Super Rugby is going anywhere.

They've broken even and outside of the Rays no other team really is club run.

Sydney Rays .. NRC Team Official Thread

Something I couldn't understand is why the Rams were wearing their alternate strip.
