    Reds 2019

I try to remain optimistic, or at least keep posts mainly to the positive slant. The above player list has the bones of a good squad. Not a championship squad, but a pretty handy one. Over the last few weeks I have read numerous comments and articles, some claiming Thorn is on the right...

    You missed Jordan Petaia Reg.

    Round 19 - Reds vs Sunwolves - Friday 13 July 2018

I just got home to see a reply of the Red to Quirk. That’s a really poor decision IMO. On the view I saw, I’m not even sure it’s a penalty.

    Round 19 - Reds vs Sunwolves - Friday 13 July 2018

If anything, I think his physical dominance will give him some benefit of the doubt. If a ref calls him for boring in, I would expect he would switch up his tactics and still be an almighty handful.

Ok - yeah, I can see that. Gee it’s fun watching him overwhelm his opposite though. Bloody impressive.

Ok - I’ll bite. What in particular are you referring to? I didn’t notice anything particularly untoward.

Haha - really. Hair advice from the Helmet. That’s quite funny.

If I recall correctly McKenzie did the same thing with Cooper. I’m pretty sure Cooper praised him for it in some sense later. I’ve heard of it happening a few other times too. It seems to happen often enough - apparently Samson wouldn’t have made much of a footballer.

I disagree Rock Lobster. The defensive team sets the formation of the lineout first, because they set up first. The attacking team then calls and sets up in response with the foremost aim being to win the ball. Plenty of teams have talked about there specific defensive strategies employed to...

Round 18: Waratahs v Sunwolves, Saturday 7:15 AET, SFS

I thought Simmons had a relatively poor year in super rugby last year amongst a relatively poor team. However otherwise I don’t see any huge difference this year the previous years in his career. His pluses have always been technical proficiency and work rate. His minuses have been impact and...

I don’t mind giving someone like Banks an opportunity, but if we have a winger in Australia who is capable of playing better there then DHP did against the Irish the I have to admit I’ll be pleasantly amazed.

My comment wasn’t a criticism of TPN. Moore was a great servant to Australian rugby, but last year was 1 too many. And our depth was virtually nil.

Ordinarily I would suggest that Fainga’a may be a bit unlucky with Ulese & Paenga-Amosa having got the jump on him and Latu having stormed back into the reckoning. However BPAs throwing seems to have deserted him after being quite good early in the season and Ulese’s ongoing injuries can’t be...

    Round 18 - Reds Vs Rebels - Jul 6, 7.45PM

The only reason I can see behind pushing Maddocks to 10 (and Hodge for that matter) is that the cupboard is near and we are hoping to come up with a solution from the resources we have available.

Reds defence coach has done well tonight. Rebels scrum coach, not so much.

I can see where the alarm comes from, but it doesn’t actually say they are offering Brad Thorn a 10 year contract. It says they want him to be a 10 year coach. The article uses the phrase ‘lock him in for 10 years’ but that appears to be the journalists words, not Miller’s. I am happy to read...

With Kerevi out I’d think it’s highly likely Rona will start at 13 for the next test, or at least come on to the bench.

I think the issues Ruru has is that he will be second string to Genia so, barring injury, will not be a regular starter. I think it is likely Gordon & Phipps will continue to share the Tahs role. Powell will, most likely, be a first pick so will get the benefit of regular/extended game time...
