    Shute Shield 2017

About par for the course for AD.

    Shute Shield 2017

First of all, only four clubs have contributed any real level of financing to NRC franchises and that are those involved in the Rays. Second, the olive branch was the option of actually holding a stake in the NSW franchises. Something no other club competition as a whole was afforded. And third...

    Shute Shield 2017

And it impacted upon the quality of those seasons. This past season with the extra lead in saw a marked jump in the quality.

    Shute Shield 2017

Not only does the schedule conflict with the start of the NRC it interferes with the franchises lead in. Instead of having 3 or so weeks to prepare they have to go from one to another with little to no preparation. This goes further than just a single round.

    Shute Shield 2017

Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't you in the past talked about the need for an extended season in order to keep players engaged? How does with the exception of a bye round the upcoming season address that. It only pushes the season back a few weeks. It doesn't actually increase any level of...

    Shute Shield 2017

Begg mentioned that they were going to try and find the funding themselves. We'll see if that is even remotely possible. If they do come cap in hand to the ARU I would find it hard to be critical of the ARU if they refused. I'd rather see that money invested somewhere else to be frank at the moment.

    Shute Shield 2017

You're kidding right? The Shute used to be 22 rounds at one point. Right across the grades. I know this as I played Colts at that level. There was a bye round then but it was used to catch up on games that were washed out. Which seemed to happen every year so we tended to play through. The...

    Shute Shield 2017

The clubs behind the Rays did. The rest is negligible. The Rams are owned and financed independently with three of the SS clubs as minority stakeholders and the Eagles are still majority privately owned as well if I remember correctly. The ARU offered the clubs an olive branch by being able to...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

The FER (Spanish RU) have secured a broadcast deal for their top line competition the Division De Honor with Eurosport. It will feature a game of the week to start but has scope to expand. Not sure if it will be broadcast across the entirety of the Eurosport network (which is some 30 countries)...

    Shute Shield 2017

My issue is that despite making noises about needing to go back to 22 rounds as their justification they started off with they have kept the 18 rounds, introduced a bye round and moved the start date back a fortnight. It would be very easy for them to have just kept the same number of rounds...

    Shute Shield 2017

Are you sure about that? Considering the players were overwhelmingly in favour of the NRC, it's place in the calendar and its structure this move effectively ignores there opinions. If the ARU says that in order to move forward they have to play NRC I reckon they'll take their opportunities.

    Shute Shield 2017

Wouldn't that impact on the quality of the GF. Not that I'll know.

Fulltime domestic Women's Sevens Competition from 2017

Something no one seems to have mentioned is that its window is essentially the same as the NRC. Wonder if it will run alongside the NRC as lead in events.

Fulltime domestic Women's Sevens Competition from 2017

I don't necessarily think it requires a Uni to have a history of performance in the game. That's the point of building these programs. They can always import the necessary expertise.

The 25 EOI's is encouraging. Potential for future growth if necessary or called for.

    Brumbies 2017

If you do manage to make your way to Mudgee hopefully it's a memorable trip. It's been too long since I've visited my ancestral home.

Are you trying to imply an element of objectivity. With you being a Reds fan and more notably a filthy Queenslander that does not compute.

    Brumbies 2017

A Reds fan covering a Tahs/Brumbies game. I don't know how I feel about that.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I have Dodo and their service is great. Unlimited is unlimited with them. Often streaming from different sites at once no problem.

Would be good if that turns out to be true.
