Never heard of him. Phibbs on the other hand gets a run in the posts every couple of months it seems.

I agree. Wright is one of the more promising players coming through, but it is rare that two No 7s are included in the 23 (leave aside the Pooper argument because Poey was selected as a No 8, not a back up No 7).

Yeah, reluctant as I am, I do agree with everything you've said.

I readily concede your argument BH, but Banks has put in a very impressive last half of the season, and as someone here keeps telling us in the early parts of the season, that early season form means little and other players will rise to the top towards the end, then he is more deserving of the...

I'd add a few, like HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes), although he is in the unenviable spot of having both Sio ans Slipper still here next year. I am assuming Robertson switches full time to the TH side in 2020. Others are, Swain, Simone, Wright. I'd really like to see Valetini make the RWC squad this year and to play a...

Best squad I've seen yet. Pretty clear that fans generally have now discarded Adam Coleman. On form, there's no argument, but on experience, surely he will be considered along the same lines as the Beale supporters point to his 580 odd tests when he is not the form No 15 in the Aussie conference.

According to the Brumbies website and Wikipedia, Banks is 186cm and 93 kg; Beale is 183cm and 90kg. Overall, it seems that Banks is a bigger bloke than KB (Kurtley Beale), and that is my impression. I haven't seen Banks smashed at Super level, and that is the next step down from, and therefore the best...

What are his physical deficiencies that concern you Barbs, and whatever they are, do you think they leave him more deficient than KB (Kurtley Beale) is in defense?

Semi Final - Brumbies vs Jaguares, Sat 29 June, 9:05 am (AEST)

If pace is the sole, or main, criterion for a winger, maybe Joe Powell should have a go out wide. Showed a very good turn of foot to run down the Jaguares winger on the weekend. Chances of him getting a No 9 gig under Cheika are pretty slim imo.

    Ideas for NRC

I would expect the goal line drop out distance and direction to be entirely at the discretion of the kicker. Players would need to be behind the goal line to be onside at the time of the kick.

Semi Final - Brumbies vs Jaguares, Sat 29 June, 9:05 am (AEST)

I reckon Speight was defending according to the Brumbies defense strategy. I think rather than have the No 15 out wide on the end of the backline in defense, the winger (in this case Speight) was meant to be on the second widest runner and that the widest runner (usually the winger) was to be...

    Ideas for NRC

Adam, do you know what happens in subsequent free kick/penalty situations? Is a player YCed every time a team offends beyond the limit? If so, that would be ludicrous. I see an argument that says good, strong defense should also be rewarded but maybe the goal line drop out is going a bit too...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

That is exactly the situation as I see it too. Based on the results during this Super season, the Brumbies as a team have had the best set piece defense where everyone defends in their selected spots. If Cheika et al are going to introduce such a system to the Wallabies, the Brumbies players...

A master class from Cubelli. Nobody in the Aussie teams can match Banks' penalty kicking for touch. He is consistently 20m+ better than Foley and much more accurate than Hodge.

The Brumbies front row should still form the Nos 1 - 3 and 17 for the Wallabies. Arnold should still get a start at No 4. Valetini, I think, showed enough to say that he is still in the running for a squad backrow spot. McCaffrey blotted his copy book with some hair brained efforts like his...

Semi Final - Brumbies vs Jaguares, Sat 29 June, 9:05 am (AEST)

Jaguares played with too much pace for the Brumbies. They were much quicker in attack and defense. Christian had an ordinary game with a couple of very poor kicks in general play leading directly to tries by the Jags. First, a grubber straight into the legs of the nearest defender and late in...
