Strange motion really. 5 teams to 4 in the "national competition"? Seems to me the ARU will be able to use the NRC to answer most questions brought forward by these terms of reference Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

Has Twiggy announced if he'll be buying the Force IP back off the ARU or will he be setting up an entirely new WA team for his comp? Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

Is there any precedent for a sporting competition being financially underwritten by one wealthy benefactor as a "vanity project" for a significant amount of time? The others I can think of were doing it to capture broadcast rights etc Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

Under the current eligibility rules you have to have a commitment with a Super Rugby side to be eligible for the Wallabies. NRC isn't enough. Easy enough to make those changes though to what is a pretty arbitrary rule at the moment. Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk

    Where to for Super Rugby?

There's 0 chance that we win hosting either of those WCs after the next one in the Japanese timezone. Next two will be in SA and back in Europe in either order One sensible descision the ARU has made is not wasting money on bids Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk

    Where to for Super Rugby?

for what it's worth, Reds had 3 games and Tahs had 2, and maybe 3 (15,911 v Brumbies) more than what the SMH reported for the SS final http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-news/shute-shield-final-shows-club-rugby-has-a-pulse-in-sports-heartland-20170821-gy1486.html

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

ARU has to approve under World Rugby Regulations (and it appears that they will do so)

They can require attendance, interview under oath and require documents to be provided. Generally they won't use those powers though. Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Looking at the A-League for a comparison. They are paying their players much less than ours, and over the life of the comp, the owners of the teams have lost well over $200million combined. Add in the government grants and SBS subsidies and it's probably over $300m. We're going to need some...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Replying to myself, but player payments are around $25m to Super Rugby teams and an additional $10m or so for ARU top ups and wallaby Match fees. Obviously a bit of cross over there. ------+-+ Put another way, the ARU probably earn enough from broadcast to pay Super rugby player salaries The Super...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Last year the ARU made about $20m net from matchday, $25m from sponsorship and $60m from broadcasting, but that includes the very lucrative English series. Under the previous agreement (2012) it was around a 60/40 international/Super rugby split of broadcast revenue. I don't think the current...

2 years out of the comp while it went through the courts though  80,000 people marching through the streets also helped! Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk
