    Where to for Super Rugby?

We.may not agree with the outcome but seriously, what do you reckon the chances are that the QC (Quade Cooper) with way more of the facts than we have, got this obviously wrong in law? There may be a successful court case out there for the Force, but it's most probably not going to be based on the arbitration...

    Force 2018

That was former Force CEO Greg Harris' line in March last year. (As he left the Tahs) http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/waratahs/cut-western-force-and-give-sydney-a-second-super-rugby-team-says-outgoing-waratahs-ceo-greg-harris-20160311-gngtuu.html He's changed his tune a bit since then...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I reckon anyone blaming NSW and Qld is giving a pretty free pass to all of the other member unions who could have stood up and opposed this. They didn't Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk

^^^^ Digby likes to play on Premiership winning teams by the look of things..... Test would really be if the Crusaders had a tough season

    Australian Rugby Development Centre

For what it's worth it appears the Federal funding was from the Department of infrastructure and regional development, and was a "Community Development Grant" which seems to have very few strings attached. The NSW funding was a Stronger Regional Communities Initiative. These grants seem to...

    The Wallabies Thread

Some stats on Hooper from this year's Super Rugby comp, and this is despite not playing any finals #2 for turnovers won #2 for dominant tackles #3 for Ball carries #4 for tackles made Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Hopefully they do. That would be fantastic. (Elsom?) The VRU as it stand right now can't afford a single year with $1m+ losses. They simply can't pay it. And the ARU funding they do get is front loaded and dropoing That's why I said I hope they have some wealthy discreet donors waiting in...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

How much of his own money did Cox put in this year? The Rebels funding is front loaded from the ARU, so next year they will be getting less than this year and even less for the following years - just $100k v $1.7m in additional funds for the other teams in 2020 Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk

    Rebels 2018

The other option ist that the ARU win the arbitration, but given the now robust state of the Force's finances they look at paths to follow. Keeping their options open (They are paralysed and no-one can make a decision) Sent from my D5833 using Tapatalk

    Where to for Super Rugby?

For the transaction to happen in the way it did, someone covered the debt - either Cox himself, the VRU (who don't have that kind of money) or someone else. The more interesting question, given the VRUs apparent lack of funds, is what does next year's balance sheet look like, and then the year...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Still leaves the ARU footing the bill for running the team to meet their (newly renewed) obligations to put 5 teams out each week. In fact, even the risk of this happening means they will have to cut spending each year to build up some kind of insurance for if the VRU can't put out a team...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

This is now the ARU's worst nightmare. Fair old chance that they'll be forced to keep 5 teams through 2020, and there's no private owner to bankroll the most financially vulnerable team in the country. They are already getting less money than the other teams due to the front loading of the...

    Rebels 2017

State government entities could provide sponsorship - it's about the only way i can see the Rebels getting any public cold hard cash. There'd be some grants that all the other sports clubs in the state could.apply for They could get some subsidies on stadium costs etc Sent from my D5833 using...
