    2011 S15: Refs for finals

Talk about misfortune added upon misfortune!!! If somehow we scrape a win against the odds this week we can look forward to Kaplan for the third time this year!!! The rugby gods have not been kind. Then if we do the million to one shot we get Bryce Lawrence in the final, who basically flips...

    Waratahs 2012

Reinforcing Bruce's comment. He was fabulous in his tackling, 53 tackles in two and a half games. That stat is positively Saffyesqe. Alcock, who might become something in the future and is actively being discussed, missed seven tackles per game in the two SA matches, 14 in total. Jenkins...

    G&GR Fantasy Super Rugby 2011

Not so much interested in other's teams, but general ideas. For example, what do you do for bench players, given that they are very unlikely to play in finals and you've got unlimited transfers, should you pick the cheapest possible so you can go expensive on the first team? Does this have any...

    Brumbies 2012

It seems a stretch, but there may be method in his madness. Randwick players are (or used to be anyway) taught the "Randwick" game plan. Having a group of players at SF who have done it before might speed up the learning process.

    waratahs looking at club players

Bruce, Does this mean he could have been available for this week or that he would have been ready for nest week?

A number 8 on your back

Vaea has been at the Brumbies. Their S & C people don't know what a skin-fold test is. See Salesi Maafu

    Phil Waugh retires

Surely you haven't forgotten the game when Waugh turned the cloaked one over on his back to prevent a try being scored? That was legendary!!!

Semi Final 1: Blues vs Waratahs

This I think is the only position where we had enough depth so that one more injury did not mean we had to go to Shute. We've got McKibben and Holmes to back up. Mind you he's already backing up about four other positions..... Can Vickerman play halfback? We could petition Sanzar to allow...

    Shute Shield 2011

There's a few in that list with long term injuries too, I think.

    TPN gone for 3N...

I understand it was the other knee. They had to strap the left one up during the match, the right one was strapped pre-game.

Semi Final 1: Blues vs Waratahs

And if the Reds were missing Fainga'a, Hanson, Slipper, Holmes, Wallace-Harrison, Higgers, Samo, Gill, Cooper, Harris, Ioane, A. Fainga'a and Tapuai you would not hear an end to the wailing! The Waratahs will front up and give it everything they've got. But the Blues will be at unbackable odds -...

    G&GR Fantasy Super Rugby 2011

OK, the regular season is over, now for the finals. We get unlimited transfers from here on in I understand, but for the semi's we can only have eight players from one team in the 22. I reckon there will be a lot of very similar teams and not so much movement up and down the tables but I've...

Yes, but the word is he will be back for next season after he completes his Japanese committments.

    Top14 - 2010/11

I agree, FP, he's a very good prop in his early 30's, and props don't usually mature till 28. He could have easily played another year or two in Super in a role like Al Baxter's at the Tahs this year. He will be an excellent acquisition if he can stay healthy.

    Finals predictions

Blues are only playing so-so at the moment. They've been going downhill since they lost Toeava and despite the Eden Park hoodoo I think the Tahs are a good chance if they can get 15 half-fit guys on the paddock. In the other qualifier, the Saders look to be favourites to down the Sharks. That...

A number 8 on your back

Why is it that there is always a fringe Red player better than anyone else in any other province?

Waratahs vs Brumbies Rd 18 MOM

    3. Dennis 2. Beale 1. Timani Lots of other honorable mentions. Defence was awesome. 3. Vaea 2. Jerry 1. Owen I expected a scrum massacre and it didn't happen. Those two did well.

The Elsom Saga - Clubs withdrawing offers is all the rage...

Waratahs terminated negotiations when Elsom apparently wanted some say in who was running what. Story was on RH and an extract is probably back a few pages in this thread.

Tahs vs Brumbies. Give us a hand mate? 2011R18

Before too long?!?! If Deans doesn't already have him on his list of possibles I'll be very surprised. Although there are plenty of good locks around, two in QLD, two in WA, Timani and Vickerman in NSW and Mumm as 4/5/6. Nice to have some depth!!! Speaking of depth, add Dave Dennis to the...

The Elsom Saga - Clubs withdrawing offers is all the rage...

I doubt anyone would suggest that is the case. But its like when you go to the jewellers to buy that diamond ring. The nice ones are expensive and sometimes, if you haven't got a lot of money, you buy the best you can. Especially as you know there are lots of other expenses that have to be...
