    Wallabies world cup squad selection

There are really two teams in every conversation. There is the team Deans will pick and then there is the team that the particular contributor would pick. Rarely are they the same. Clearly Deans likes Alexander, Vickerman and McCalman and doesn't like Sharpie. Based on their super form that...

    Wallabies world cup squad selection

I think they've found that in Colin Slade. He's no Carter but the equivalent for us is Barnes for Cooper. Where we have a better crew is: Better lineout Better 7 if the rucks are properly policed. Cooper's ability to release the X-factor players. More explosive forward pack if TPN and...

    G&GR Fantasy Tri-Nations Competition

The problems this week finding three SB's to pick highlight the fact that fantasy rugby with two teams involved is not a skilfull as Super rugby (except for the final). Its more of a crapshoot - which of these two options will score more points. There will be a lot of people with the same...

Pointless question for those with too much time on their hands

Almost as bad as using abolishment for abolition. :lmao:

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

Tell me just one game where Al Baxter was exposed defensively. Trust me, you'll be struggling. Deans requires all props to have abilities in the following priority order: Good open-field runner, defensively sound, good lineout lifter, good in the tight attacking rucks......last and least...

    Waratahs 2012

As I posted two or three pages back, Jenkins 2011 stats on a per game basis makes Saffy look ordinary, which is a bloody hard thing to do! JJ's tackling stats are significantly better than Pocock's stats.

Channel 9 continues the tradition of absymal free to air rugby coverage...

Its a Murdoch media outlet. They are either Tea-Party type right wing apologists or written for people with an IQ of 80 (sometimes both). Why would you expect anything else?

Early congratulations to Greg. He has been consistently awesome all year.

    Rugby - not set pieces

Given the relatively few VC's handed out, the fact that four recipients were rugby internationals is truly remarkable. Reminds me of the Bruce Ross post as to why he wouldn't want to be next to Phil Waugh in the trenches.

    Waratahs 2012

Those Force selectors must be hard markers, I thought Jenkins was outstanding - 53 tackles made, 1 missed in 205 minutes of game time. That's an average of 21 tackles per game with virtually a 98% success rate. If there are better tackling stats in the Super comp I've definitely missed them...

    Waratahs 2012

Based on his performances for the Force this year, Jenkins would be well in front of Alcock and McCutcheon. If Lam is as good as his brother you'd choose him too over the incumbents. You don't win Super rugby with an average 7, you can have some journeymen elsewhere but not 7 (or 10 for that...

    Waratahs 2012

Ducka has got Crohns disease. I know someone who has it and its tough handling it in normal life, without the problem of being a peak professional player. He's one of my favourite Waratah players and if he comes back I'll be ecstatic. If he does then Mumm at 6 makes even more sense because...

    Waratahs 2012

Mumm gets a lot of bad press. He's the Tom Carter of the forwards - to some the very incarnation of evil and the cause of all that is wrong with the Tahs along with Waugh and Carter. So its hard to evaluate his strengths and weaknesses without causing a firestorm of hatred. But I'm going to...

    Waratahs 2012

I'm still very confused. Mowen wanted a one-year deal, the Tahs wanted a two year deal. So now Mowen has signed a two year deal at the Brumbies. People can tell me to get over it and move on but I don't like it when one of the two parties has told an outright lie in the media. This is not...

    Waratahs 2012

That's five. At this year's attrition rate we should be right till round 10 or 11, when hopefully the first one injured will be on his way back.

    Rugby - not set pieces

I remember watching the Ellas play together for Randwick. There was exactly the same sort of feeling. The excitement and fun of being able to do something really special and the happy chatting as they jogged back to the halfway line for what seemed like the millionth time.

    Shute Shield 2011

Does this have anything to do with the points limit for team selection? Though I remember Bruce waxing lyrical about the form of Adey King so maybe its just Uni preference.
