Super Rugby Au Round 7 - Reds v Rebels @ Suncorp Stadium, 7:15pm Sat 15 Aug

Agree entirely with your comments on Murphy. Refereeing in this comp has been poor, way below the standard of play. Stewart was Johnny on the spot to take advantage of an extremely poor defensive decision by Magnay, who came in on JOC (James O'Connor) (?) when he should have stayed on his man, Stewart...

Super Rugby Au Round 7 - Reds v Rebels @ Suncorp Stadium, 7:15pm Sat 15 Aug

Just for balance PC, Tupou was held in the scrum by Orr too, and he isn't far off being a rookie. Excellent battle in the scrums tonight.

Not hard when MT wasn't playing 10. OTOH, Matty had JOC (James O'Connor)'s number in the 12 spot, hands down. Actually, JOC (James O'Connor) still isn't much chop at 10. Plays way too deep, and kicks too often. He looks best when he is running the ball back from the fullback position.

Tupou should have been YCed for pulling down the Rebels maul less than a metre from the line. Are there really no slightly mediocre referees in this country? All four have been poor; today's effort one of the poorest.

Reckon on today's efforts it is Koroibete who put some question marks on his spot in the Wallabies.

If you're referring to the incident where Petaia goes down after kicking ahead, then in my unbiassed opinion, Petaia should have been penalised for a Hollywood.

Super Rugby AU Round 7 - Force vs Waratahs @ Robina - Friday 14 August

Impressed again with the Tahs attacking game. Last week was not an aberration but a step in the new direction. Saying that. though, I thought the Force were closer to them than the scoreboard indicated. First game I've seen Will Harrison play flat and set up backline plays. He was extra good...

State of the Union (origin) discussion

From the published teams there are only 5 Tahs players in the NSW Origin 15 and 5 Reds players in the Qld origin 15. Although I am not an ardent supported of the concept, there is actually little resemblance between the origin sides and the Super sides, at least if being selected right now...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Qwerty, I'll respond to your post but not all my comments are directed towards you. Some are in response to other comments. First, there still seems to be a lot of confusion around what is being proposed. Whether that is on the part of people whose posts I don't understand, or on my own part...

State of the Union (origin) discussion

I reckon the idea has come directly from discussions with the likely broadcasters. One or more of of them probably see it as an opportunity for crowds and tv viewers similar to SOO. I'm not so sure that the concept will prove successful in Rugby.

State of the Union (origin) discussion

I'm really not sold on the notion but as it's part of the broadcasting deal then prepared to see it have a run.

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

You say he is a 10. But doesn't he predominantly play 15 at the Eagles?

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

Not sure that your memory is reliable Uh huh. I seem to recall that I was the only one advocating Keunzle to start ahead of Lolesio in the early part of the season. I remember being outnumbered in the Keunzle v Lolesio debate.

Super Rugby AU Round 6 Rebels v Brumbies, 7.05pm Leichhardt Oval, Friday 7th August

I wouldn't be advocating such radical changes myself, but if it were to happen I'd much prefer to see Mack at 15 with Pasitoa at 10. All of Hanson's beaten defenders came when he was playing either wing or fullback. He looked completely out of sorts at 10 on the weekend.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Got some names on who might now or soon be eligible R3? Lomani and Malolua both have international caps so won't come into it. Douglas I think might have a Scotland cap? Will the change affect either of the Smith twins? Are there some other Saffas who might now qualify?

    Refereeing decisions

Thanks BH. Probably a 50/50 call, but live it didn't look right to me.

    Refereeing decisions

But, BH, I'm saying that Powell simply put his hands on Deegan. Did not flop on him or leave his feet. What is illegal about that to warrant a penalty? If the kick was touched then no issue but is there evidence that that happened? I didn't get the impression live that it was anything other...

    Refereeing decisions

A few posters talking up the ref in the Rebels/Brumbies game. Without suggesting the result could have/should have been different, there were some decisions I think were quite poor. Maybe others have a view? In the first minute or two of the game, Deegan failed to catch a poor pass from the...

    Wallabies 2020

BH, on the money with MT I reckon, but I'm still not sold on Will Harrison as a Wallaby contender this year. The Tahs backline attack was very impressive against the Reds. but it looked to me that most of the attacking raids, especially those down the Tahs' left wing, were started by Maddocks...

Super Rugby AU Team of the Week

But played on the left wing much to the chagrin I daresay of one Jock Campbell.
